Occupational Therapist with responsibilities as MAR (Medical Responsible for Rehabilitation) at Älvkarleby Municipality
Are you a licensed occupational therapist who wants to combine patient-focused work with a strategic assignment within patient safety and rehabilitation?
Here, you will have the opportunity to develop the role of Medical Responsible for Rehabilitation (MAR) while continuing to work closely with patients and colleagues in daily rehabilitation work.
This is a position for you who wants to influence, develop, and create good conditions for safe and high-quality rehabilitation.
About the workplace
The Rehabilitation Department is part of the Health and Medical Care Unit, together with the municipality's nurses. The group consists of six licensed occupational therapists and physiotherapists, as well as a rehabilitation assistant. The unit shares spacious premises.
About the position
The position combines work as an occupational therapist with the responsibilities of MAR. This combination offers a varied daily routine where you work both directly with patients and contribute to the development of operations and patient safety work.
During 2026, the MAR assignment will cover approximately 60 percent of the position to provide good conditions for establishing the function. You will receive support from an experienced colleague in patient-focused work. Thereafter, the extent will be adjusted based on operational needs.
As an occupational therapist, you will work closely with a physiotherapist in pairs. Together, you will drive daily rehabilitation work and develop new working methods. This approach is part of a development project starting in the autumn.
In the role of MAR, you will work closely with the municipality's Medical Responsible Nurse (MAS).
Responsibilities
As an occupational therapist, you will:
- Conduct occupational therapy assessments and follow-ups
- Trial, prescribe, and follow up on assistive devices
- Collaborate with other professions to create a holistic approach for the individual
- Contribute to education and information dissemination regarding preventive measures
- Participate in the development of working methods where occupational therapists and physiotherapists work in pairs
As MAR, you will:
- Establish, implement, and follow up on routines for safe rehabilitation
- Coordinate and develop patient safety work within the rehabilitation area
- Monitor quality and safety in operations
- Investigate deviations and serious incidents
- Collaborate with the county's municipalities and the region on rehabilitation matters
- Contribute to quality and patient safety reports together with other functions
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who:
- Is a licensed occupational therapist
- Has a good ability to work independently and take initiative
- Is structured and has an interest in quality, development, and patient safety work
- Is easy to collaborate with and create good relationships
- Thrives in combining operational and strategic work
