Occupational Therapist at Älvkarleby Municipality
Are you a licensed occupational therapist looking to work in a setting where you have significant autonomy, close collaboration with colleagues, and the opportunity to influence future rehabilitation practices? If so, this position at Älvkarleby Municipality may be for you.
Our rehabilitation unit is embarking on an exciting development journey with the implementation of the MAR function and a new working method for us, where occupational therapists and physiotherapists work together in pairs. We are looking for someone who wants to help develop the operations, contribute new ideas, and create good conditions for person-centered and high-quality rehabilitation.
About the Position
As an occupational therapist, you play a vital role in supporting an individual's activity capacity, participation, and independence. You work both directly with patients and in close collaboration with care staff.
You will work in a pair with a physiotherapist, jointly driving daily rehabilitation work and contributing to the development and testing of new working methods. This approach is part of a development project starting in the autumn, offering the opportunity to influence how rehabilitation is organized and carried out moving forward.
We are looking for someone who thrives working independently and taking initiative, while also valuing collaboration and seeing the strength in working together with other professions.
About the Workplace
The rehabilitation unit is part of the Health and Medical Care Unit, along with the municipality's nurses. The rehab group consists of six licensed occupational therapists and physiotherapists, as well as a rehabilitation assistant.
We work in shared premises with spacious offices, equipment storage, and reconditioning areas, close to both nurses and care staff. The premises are located in the municipality's largest care and nursing home, which also features a café, a training kitchen, a gym, and a recently inaugurated sunroom.
The unit also conducts preventive training groups in collaboration with the occupational therapist from the assistance unit.

Job Responsibilities
As an occupational therapist, you will:
- Conduct assessments and follow-ups
- Test, prescribe, and follow up on assistive devices
- Collaborate with other professions
- Contribute to training and information dissemination
- Participate in the development of the working method where occupational therapists and physiotherapists work together in pairs
- Work with occupational health and safety issues in collaboration with care staff
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who:
- Is a licensed occupational therapist
- Has a good ability to work independently and take initiative
- Is easy to collaborate with and creates good relationships
- Is flexible and can adapt interventions based on individual needs
- Enjoys working in a person-centered manner and in close collaboration with other professions
Meritorious
- Experience in municipal rehabilitation
- Experience in collaboration between different professions
