The Department of Internal Medicine at Visby Hospital comprises three wards with a total of 37 beds: general internal medicine, cardiology, and a stroke unit. We are responsible for managing patients with acute internal medical conditions at the emergency department around the clock.

Specialist clinics are available in anticoagulation, endocrinology and diabetes, gastroenterology, hematology, cardiology, neurology, and rheumatology. The department employs 19 specialist physicians, most of whom are double specialists in internal medicine and another subspecialty, as well as 11 currently employed residents (ST-doctors). In addition to junior doctors (AT-doctors), we also welcome medical students and students in other healthcare-related educational programs.

Your Responsibilities

As a resident (ST-doctor) in internal medicine, you will train to become a specialist physician in internal medicine in accordance with the Swedish Society of Internal Medicine's objective description. Opportunities for specialization in a sub-specialty are available upon agreement.

On-call duties are included. Parts of the specialist training take place on the mainland. The extent of training at other locations depends on the chosen sub-specialty and is decided in consultation with supervisors and the study director, based on the objective description. A well-developed collaboration exists with Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm.

Who are you?

We are looking for a licensed physician with a primary interest in internal medicine and curiosity about one of its sub-specialties. Experience in the medical profession and previous clinical work as a physician in Sweden are required.

You must have good knowledge of the Swedish language.

A background check via an extract from the criminal record register will be conducted prior to the hiring decision.
