Acting is a rich and unique art form where AI still has a long way to go before reaching human capability. Lingotion works together with actors to create AI-based replicas of acting characters in an ethical and legally secure manner. The goal is to capture the uniquely human element of acting to enable real-time generated acting inside game engines and create entirely new gaming experiences.

Real-time acting opens up for dynamic stories that adapt to the player's choices and actions, instead of being limited to today's statically pre-recorded acting.

Lingotion is developing new, world-leading AI foundation models to capture what makes acting human and generate it in real-time locally on the players' own machines without cloud solutions.

About the role

Lingotion researches and develops generative AI where it is most exciting - by creating experiences that are impossible to do manually. Acting plays a central role in video game development, from portraying characters in large open-world RPGs to commentators in sports games. Today, the major limitation is that the player can only experience what was recorded in a studio during production. We are now making it possible to generate acting based on dynamic scripts that change depending on what happens in the game. Our focus is on generating only the acting, while the generation of dynamic scripts is determined and driven by the game development studio.

What makes Lingotion unique is the ethical and legally secure approach to AI-generated acting. Lingotion's custom foundation models are trained exclusively on actor data where there are direct agreements with the actors. From the actors' perspective, Lingotion acts as an agent for their digital selves when portraying a character: they receive royalties on their training data, and Lingotion protects their artistic rights. To generate acting in real-time, inference must run directly inside the game engine on the device, as cloud solutions are too expensive. At the same time, real-time critical parts like graphics rendering must not be negatively affected. The performance requirements are extreme and place unique demands on the AI architecture. Every year, Lingotion launches a new AI model that surpasses all others when it comes to real-time AI for on-device acting.

Responsibilities

Lingotion is a small startup in Lund with seven people, where you will work closely with both current developers and the founder. The focus is on the entire AI production chain, from data collection, model design, training, to integration into game engines and gaming platforms.

The work covers all parts of the development and production process: Lingotion collects its own training data from actors, researches entirely new AI architectures, trains the models, and integrates them into game engines while maintaining real-time characteristics for graphics rendering.

Lingotion's AI research and development is already far ahead of both well-known public research and other commercial players in the field.

We are looking for you who

Is a senior AI researcher with solid knowledge of system and computer architecture. The seniority lies primarily in coding and debugging, as AI is a relatively new and rapidly developing field. At the same time, experience in developing, experimenting with, and applying custom AI models is required, either in commercial projects or on your own initiative.

  • Have documented experience in solving complex technical problems
  • Possess a deep understanding of system architecture and real-time systems
  • Have solid experience in performance optimization and multi-threaded/parallel programming
  • Have studied mathematics at the university level, for example as a civil engineer or through independent courses in mathematics
  • Have at least two years of practical experience in AI development, where you have built or modified your own models (Fine-tuning of models or using AI services via APIs does not count)
  • Have long and broad programming experience, acquired through professional work and/or personal projects
