About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will become safer and more secure for everyone. We are the agency responsible for prisons, probation services, remand prisons, and client transport.
About the workplace
The Mariestad operational area includes the open prison Rödjan, the closed prison Johannesberg, and the Remand Prison Mariestad. Mariestad currently has approximately 340 employees distributed across various professional categories and competencies. With new construction primarily at the Rödjan site, we are recruiting staff to man both Sweden's largest open prison and an upcoming new closed prison.
Job Description
As an administrator in the office, you will work with client and operational administration, including the registration and dispatch of client documents, handling of inmates' funds, mail processing, archiving, and ordering. Invoice handling and other economic administration are also included.
The role involves external contacts, where you represent the Swedish Prison and Probation Service to partners and the general public. The duties require knowledge of the principle of public access to information, while ensuring that confidentiality is maintained.
Our administrators are located at all three of our operational sites: the Rödjan prison, the Johannesberg prison, and the remand prison. The role includes providing administrative support to both managers and colleagues, which may occur at all of our operational sites.
Qualifications
Your personal qualities are of great importance to us. As an administrator in the office, it is important that you are flexible and have good teamwork skills, as you will collaborate closely with colleagues in a work group divided across three locations.
As a person, you are stable and act calmly in stressful or pressured situations. In your work, you are service-oriented and attentive and accommodating in your interactions. You plan, organize, and prioritize your work effectively.
It is important to us that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's basic values regarding a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and belief in a person's will and ability to develop. You are aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute through your attitude to ensuring that everyone is treated equally. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Complete upper secondary education (high school diploma), preferably with a focus on economics, office work, or other education deemed suitable by the employer.
- Experience in administrative work.
- Ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish.
- Good computer skills.
It is meritorious if you have:
- Experience in office/administrative work within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service.
- Experience working with archives, confidential documents, and handling official emails or similar.
- Knowledge and experience working in the economic system Proceedo.
- Experience working in a service-oriented manner.
- Knowledge of the penalty system and the principle of public access to information.
Conditions
Working hours: Daytime, Monday – Friday. Flexible working hours apply.
