The Upper Secondary and Adult Education Board is responsible for the municipality's obligations under school legislation for upper secondary school, adapted upper secondary school, municipal adult education, and special education for adults. The Board is also responsible for work-oriented rehabilitation and the municipal reception of refugees. As a Study and Career Counselor (SYV) within the upper secondary school, you work closely with principals, student health services, students, and other partners involved in the role. You also collaborate with your SYV colleagues across Umeå Municipality's four upper secondary schools. The SYVs within the municipality's upper secondary schools share a common unit manager.

We are now looking for a Study and Career Counselor to be based at Maja Beskow Upper Secondary School, with responsibility for Language Introduction (IMS).

Your responsibilities

The role of a Study and Career Counselor in upper secondary school involves individual and group counseling sessions, study planning, as well as providing information and collaborating with teachers, principals, student health teams, students, and possibly guardians. The role of SYV within Language Introduction also includes conducting lessons focusing on, among other things, study pathways and the labor market.

You actively work to build good relationships with principals, colleagues, students, and partners, and contribute to the collaboration within the student health team.

You are a skilled relationship builder who actively works to create and maintain good relationships with colleagues, students, and partners. You are solution-oriented and have the ability to adapt your methods to meet the needs of different individuals.

You are interested in supporting individuals in navigating their school years and the transition into working life. Personal suitability is highly valued!

We are looking for someone who has:

• A degree from the Study and Career Counseling program.
• Very good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.
• Good knowledge of English.

Experience working as a Study and Career Counselor is an advantage.

Other information

The position is a fixed-term full-time appointment from 2026-08-10 to 2027-03-31. There is a possibility of extension.
