The Adult Education Department in Umeå Municipality is responsible for study and career guidance as well as adult education. Education is provided both in-house and through procured actors. Within adult education, studies are offered in Swedish for Immigrants (SFI), basic and general courses, vocational training, and special adult education at the basic and upper secondary levels.

We are looking for an engaged and innovative development leader who wants to strengthen the quality and flexibility within mathematics and natural science subjects at Umevux.

About the position

As a development leader, you play a central role in developing teaching and organization within mathematics and natural science subjects. You drive pedagogical development with a focus on flexible study formats, digital learning environments, and accessible setups for students who choose to study on-site according to a schedule or remotely.

The position combines development work with your own teaching in mathematics at the basic and upper secondary levels, giving you the opportunity to influence the operations strategically while working closely with students' learning in practice. We prefer that you have a subject combination of Mathematics with Chemistry and/or Natural Science at the upper secondary level.

You work closely with the principal, teachers, and other key personnel, contributing to creating structures that meet the needs and life situations of different students.

Your responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate development work within mathematics and natural science subjects.
• Teach mathematics at the basic and upper secondary levels within Umevux.
• Develop flexible and individualized study setups (classroom, distance, and hybrid).
• Drive pedagogical development related to digital learning environments and tools.
• Support and mentor teachers in didactic questions and digital competence.
• Analyze results and suggest improvement measures.
• Monitor the external environment and contribute new ideas and working methods.
• Participate in quality work and strategic planning.

Requirements

We are looking for someone who:

• Is qualified and licensed to teach mathematics at the upper secondary level.
• Has a teacher education with a focus on mathematics and a natural science subject.
• Has experience teaching within adult education.
• Has documented experience in development work within digitalization.
• Has good knowledge of digital learning platforms and pedagogical tools.

Merits

• Experience leading collegial learning or projects.
• Experience with distance and hybrid teaching.
• Knowledge of AI tools or digital didactics.
• Education in digital development and project management.

You are creative and see opportunities in change. Furthermore, you have a clear student focus, understand adult learning, and are communicative and confident in an advisory role.
