The Department of Public Health and Caring Sciences (IFV) belongs to the Faculty of Medicine and conducts extensive research through our 11 research groups, primarily within the fields of public health science, nursing science, bioethics, and health care sciences. Furthermore, the department offers education for the medical program, nursing programs, speech-language pathology program, the Master's program in Public Health, as well as several standalone courses. Description of the Subject Area

Health care sciences is an interdisciplinary field encompassing research on the governance, organization, and outcomes of the health care system.

Responsibilities

The position includes teaching, research, and administration. Teaching takes place at both undergraduate and advanced levels, primarily on the medical program and the Master's program in Public Health, within subjects such as health care sciences and scientific methodology. Teaching responsibilities also include course coordination and course administration. The role also involves keeping up with developments within the field of health care sciences and societal developments in general that are relevant to the work at the university and within the research group.

Qualifications

A PhD in health care sciences or a related field is required for this position. Eligibility for appointment as a university lecturer requires demonstrated scientific and pedagogical competence (3 § 4 kap HF). According to Section 5 of the Employment Regulations for Uppsala University (AO), a general requirement for teachers is to possess the personal qualities necessary to perform the duties of the position well.

The applicant must have documented ability to teach in Swedish and to assess written assignments in Swedish.

In addition, it is meritorious if the applicant has experience teaching in courses relevant to the position and supervising students, as well as ongoing research projects in a relevant field, such as health care sciences. All merits must be documented so that both quality and scope can be assessed.

Evaluation Criteria

In the selection among eligible applicants, weight will be given equally to scientific and pedagogical competence. When assessing scientific and pedagogical competence, particular emphasis will be placed on experience in research and teaching within the field of health care sciences.

Scientific competence refers to research qualifications. In assessing competence, primary emphasis will be placed on scientific quality and the scope in terms of breadth and depth. Merits and experience in research related to health care sciences are prioritized. Particular weight will be given to documented experience of publication in international, peer-reviewed journals, as well as demonstrated ability to competitively obtain external research funding. Importance will also be attached to experience in leading and/or participating in interdisciplinary research and collaboration projects, as well as documented ability to collaborate with researchers from fields other than one's own.

Pedagogical competence refers to qualifications in education and teaching. In assessing pedagogical competence, pedagogical quality should be given the highest priority. The scope, both in terms of breadth and depth, should also be considered. When assessing pedagogical competence, particular emphasis will be placed on experience from teaching that includes health care sciences and teaching on scientific methodology. Supervision of master's theses is also considered a merit.

All merits must be documented so that both quality and scope can be assessed.

International experts may be consulted during the assessment of submitted applications. In this event, application documents written in Swedish may need to be sent to a translator hired by the university.
