Municipal Technical Services and Care is divided into four units: property, streets and parks, water and sewage, and catering. We manage the municipality's land and operational premises, clean municipal buildings, maintain streets and roads, pedestrian and cycle paths, parks, playgrounds, forests, waste management, and utility networks. We produce drinking water and treat sewage water. Within the catering unit, we prepare meals for schools, preschools, elderly care, and home help services.

Municipal Technical Services is responsible for meeting the needs of residents and other departments for services within water, sewage, road maintenance, park care, building maintenance, and waste management.

We are now looking for a Street and Traffic Engineer who wants to contribute to the development of Forshaga Municipality. In this role, you will have a key position in the work of creating safe, attractive, and sustainable traffic environments for the municipality's residents. As a smaller municipality, we offer short decision-making paths and good opportunities to influence, meaning you can follow the work all the way from idea and planning to implementation.

Tasks

As a Street and Traffic Engineer, you will become an important part of Municipal Technical Services and Care. You will work both strategically and operationally with issues concerning traffic, streets, pedestrian and cycle paths, and the public environment.

You will, among other things:

  • Plan and develop the municipality's traffic and street environments
  • Work with traffic safety issues and traffic investigations
  • Prepare materials for local traffic regulations
  • Lead and coordinate investment and maintenance projects
  • Participate in detailed planning and development projects
  • Collaborate with contractors, consultants, authorities, and residents
  • Handle citizen proposals, comments, and traffic cases
  • Work with budget, follow-up, and planning within the operational area

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have an interest in societal development and want to contribute to making everyday life better for the municipality's residents.

You have a university education in civil engineering, road and water, traffic planning, or other education that the employer considers equivalent. You have good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and hold a B driver's license.

It is meritorious if you have experience in traffic planning or traffic safety work, project management, work within municipal operations, GIS or other map-based systems, as well as work with contracts and procurement.

You are solution-oriented and proactive, have an easy time collaborating with others, and build good relationships. The role involves many contacts, which requires that you feel confident in meeting and communicating with residents, businesses, and other actors in a professional and trustworthy manner.
