About the Street/Park Operations Unit

The Street/Park Operations Unit is part of the Public Environment Department under the Technical Administration. The main task of Street/Park is the operation and maintenance of public land throughout the municipality. The Operations Unit also carries out projects on its own initiative, such as pedestrian and cycle paths as well as roundabouts.

Nearly 200 employees work within the Technical Administration. We strive to ensure that the municipality's traffic environment is safe and accessible, and that children, young people, and the elderly receive nutritious and good food in our school operations and special housing. We are responsible for residents' access to clean and fresh tap water. We handle the collection of household waste and waste facilities, local maintenance for our administrative premises, contract and rent management, as well as service. We also manage leisure facilities, parks, and playgrounds.

Job Responsibilities

Your duties will include, among other things, ground cleaning and signage of traffic environments, reconstruction and new construction through earth and road works, as well as stone setting of, for example, pedestrian and cycle paths, crosswalks, playgrounds, and parks.

In some assignments, you will work independently, and in other cases, you will collaborate with colleagues. On-call duty may be included in the position. The job places high demands on cooperation and precision, as well as a flexible working approach and a holistic perspective.

Qualifications

We welcome you if you have:

• a construction technical education or equivalent experience within the job's areas, but you must have previous experience in construction work
• a B-driver's license for a manually shifted car, as travel within and outside the municipality's borders is included with the municipality's vehicle fleet
• machine operator certificate for wheel loaders
• good knowledge of both spoken and written Swedish, as our primary tool is language.

In addition to the above requirements, we would appreciate it if you had additional training such as road work, chainsaw/bush cutter, scissor lift certificate, or ADR.

For us, it is important that you have a pronounced sense of responsibility and service and are willing to take initiative in your work. You also find it easy to collaborate and move forward in work together with others. Since the work as a construction worker is very varied, rapid changes can occur, which means you need to be flexible and stable in stressful situations. Finally, you organize and prioritize your work effectively within the framework of the work assignments from the supervisor.
