Do you want to help build the future water and wastewater network together with our experienced team? We are now looking for 2 pipe network technicians.
We are looking for more pipe network technicians for the Water and Environment Unit!
Are you hands-on, enjoy varied workdays, and want to work with socially vital infrastructure? Then you might be the one we are looking for!
Currently, the Pipe Network Division within the Water and Environment Unit is growing, and we are looking for more pipe network technicians who want to help develop and secure the future water and wastewater supply in Säffle and Åmål.
About the operations
Pipe Network is a division within the Water and Environment Unit, currently consisting of a unit manager, a water and environment engineer, a surveying engineer, and four pipe network technicians distributed across two work teams – one in Säffle and one in Åmål.
We work in close collaboration with our colleagues within the Water and Environment Process, Street and Park, and Leisure units, as well as contractors, where we together build, maintain, and develop the various facilities and infrastructure of our cities and towns.
Today, the operations are responsible for approximately 200 km of water and wastewater pipeline networks in our cities and towns. To meet future needs, secure the water supply, and adapt the infrastructure to a changing climate, the rate of renewal in our pipeline networks will triple by the year 2032. Therefore, we are now looking for more colleagues to join our growing team.
Job Responsibilities
The responsibilities of a pipe network technician vary in size, location, and nature.
As a pipe network technician, you work together with team leaders and colleagues on both larger investment projects and operational and maintenance work within our water and wastewater pipeline networks.
The duties are varied and include among other things:
- Trenching, pipe laying, and earthworks
- Operational and maintenance measures in the water and wastewater networks
- For smaller assignments, such as operational measures, planning the practical execution of the assignment assigned to the current work team, which includes:
- Ordering materials
- Developing and executing simple safety plans (TA plans)
- Ordering cable markings and practical coordination
- Investigations in water and wastewater networks, such as tracing, checking connection conditions, and leak detection
- Documentation in digital map systems
The positions are located in Säffle and Åmål respectively, but the work is performed in both municipalities.
The position also includes membership in the Water and Environment Pipe Network emergency response group, which means you are on call approximately every 4–5 weeks and, together with colleagues, are responsible for carrying out emergency measures in the water and wastewater networks of Säffle and Åmål municipalities, even outside regular working hours.
Who are you?
We are looking for someone who is driven, responsible, and enjoys working practically with others. You take initiative, work meticulously, and want to deliver high-quality work.
The operations of the Water and Environment Unit are classified as socially vital and are subject to strict legal requirements, meaning the work requires a high sense of responsibility and precision. Since we work with both wastewater and drinking water, high demands are also placed on hygiene, order, and precision in daily work. We will place great emphasis on personal suitability.
We would like you to have:
- Upper secondary education in land and construction or equivalent
- Experience from construction work or water and environment pipe laying
- Good computer skills and experience with digital operational systems
- Category B driver's license
Merits:
- Category C and E driver's licenses
- Machine experience and operator certificates
- Experience within water and environment operations
Practical Information:
- Location: Åmål and Säffle
- On-call work
- Extract from the criminal record must be presented before employment begins
- Start date: As soon as possible or according to agreement
- Smoke-free working hours apply
