About the job

In the Crime Prevention Department, we work to prevent, detect, and investigate economic crime, both in Sweden and internationally. This ranges from sophisticated tax schemes to how population registration can be used as a tool in crime.

As a Tax Investigator here, you work with qualified tax investigations concerning individuals, companies, and sometimes networks that deliberately reduce or avoid paying taxes. The societal benefit of the work is central; you prevent and counteract tax and welfare crimes. This may involve:

• preventing incorrect payments
• detecting and stopping false invoices
• identifying undeclared labor
• identifying and investigating complex corporate structures used for tax evasion

You also play a vital role in stopping incorrect registrations, which helps protect legitimate businesses from being exploited in criminal schemes.

The work is varied and challenging. You need to be able to determine the right action in each situation and choose the right tool: audit, investigation, or control visit. Here, we work closely together, both with colleagues and in collaboration with other authorities, to combat organized crime and workplace crime.

You will become part of Crime Prevention Unit 6, located in Gothenburg. The unit consists of approximately 190 dedicated colleagues with a common goal: to make a difference.

About you

You must also have:

• a university education of at least 180 higher education credits (120 points) in economics or law
• several years of current and relevant work experience in economic or audit work, or alternatively, several years of current and relevant work experience in advanced control or audit within a state authority
• a valid driver's license (Category B)

It is desirable that you have current and relevant work experience in tax-related economic or audit work, from the public sector, an accounting or audit firm, or from an economic function in a company.

Good to know

The employment is permanent and may begin with a probationary period of six months.

A position with us may involve placement in a security class. A security investigation with register check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585) may therefore be conducted before a decision on employment is made. For some of our security-class tasks, Swedish citizenship is required.
