Project Assistant to the Environmental Economics Unit – Department of Economics

The Department of Economics with Statistics belongs to the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg, and the department has approximately 100 employees from a large number of countries. Teaching is conducted in economics and statistics and currently has approximately 800 students registered on the department's courses and programs. A diversity of researchers gathers at the department, several of whom are internationally renowned economists. The strongest research areas are labor economics, behavioral economics, development economics, environmental economics, and financial economics. Job Description

The duties include assisting in various projects carried out by the Environmental Economics Unit at the Department of Economics with Statistics. The unit conducts research on environment, climate, natural resources, and sustainable development. The tasks will primarily involve working on projects concerning the optimal design of policy instruments and how attitudes towards nature conservation and environmental and climate policy are formed. Duties include, but are not limited to, data collection and analysis, report writing, literature studies, information gathering, research communication, facilitating online meetings and the Environmental Economics Unit's seminar series, fact-checking, assisting in teaching, and administrative tasks.

Qualifications

We are looking for a person who is at the end of their master's studies or preferably has obtained a master's degree in economics with a focus on environmental economics, or equivalent education with skills in quantitative methods (such as an engineering degree). Applicants from environmental science or other adjacent fields such as political science are also welcome to apply.

It is a requirement that the applicant can communicate fluently both orally and in writing in Swedish and English and has good skills in writing texts and language editing.

As the work involves many contacts with researchers and external stakeholders, it is required that you can easily collaborate both within and outside the department and have the ability to work proactively and efficiently in a multinational work environment.

Knowledge and experience of working with Swedish and international environmental policy are meritorious, as is experience of similar tasks. Familiarity with econometrics, data analysis, statistical software, digital learning resources, use of AI, and communication work are meritorious.

We also place great importance on personal suitability, such as the ability to take initiative, organize, and work independently.

Employment

The position is a fixed-term appointment (special fixed-term appointment) at 60% for 10 months, located at the Department of Economics with Statistics. The start date for the position is 2026-09-03 or by agreement.
