About the unit

The primary task of the Uppland and Västmanland Group (UVG) is to train, organize, and administer two Home Guard battalions in Uppland and Västmanland. In addition, UVG supports operations through voluntary organizations in Uppland and Västmanland and is ready to lead operations to support society in other ways.

UVG is part of the Middle Military Region (MR M) and is based at the Command Regiment in Enköping.

Main responsibilities

As a Technical Officer, you are responsible for the execution of the technical service, leadership, planning, and follow-up. Your main tasks include:

• Creating maintenance plans.
• Monitoring, ordering, executing, and documenting measures according to technical orders as well as preventive and corrective maintenance according to the maintenance plan.
• Developing the battalion's personnel, primarily regarding the handling of technical equipment.
• Responsible for development and maintenance work within your own professional knowledge.
• Participate in exercises as an instructor and technical support.
• Plan and conduct training and electrical safety matters.
• Maintain own physical performance capacity according to FMFYS level.
• Develop and maintain personal ability.
• Support the commander with assigned tasks.
• Tasks in the unit's daily work.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

• SOU (Specially Tested Officer)
• OR 6 (Master Sergeant)
• Driver's license at least class C
• Military driver's permit
• Good computer skills
• Good knowledge of PRIO and LIFT

The Middle Military Region (MR M) is a wartime unit and an organizational unit where the Commander and Staff are located in Kungsängen. The organization consists of the Commander with staff, six training groups for training and support of the Home Guard, and approx. 7000 Home Guard soldiers organized in eleven battalions and a number of independent units. The Commander of the Middle Military Region with regional staff leads subordinate units, cooperates with regional and local actors, leads security and intelligence services, and supports operational and tactical commanders who solve tasks within the region. The region also functions as a link between the Swedish Armed Forces and civil society, has an active cooperation with the county administrative board and the region. If necessary, MR M also leads operations, for example in national crisis situations and support to society. The military region solves tasks in peace, crisis, and war.

The organization and area of operation of the Middle Military Region cover the geographical counties of Stockholm, Uppsala, Södermanland, Västmanland, Dalarna, and Gävleborg. Training groups and Home Guard are present in each county.
