Project Description
Doctoral Field: Geodesy and Geoinformatics
We are looking for a doctoral student for the project Efficiency of Track Measurement, funded by the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket). The main objective of the project is to design and evaluate GNSS measurement methods that meet the requirements for determining track position. See the more detailed project description here.
The doctoral student will be placed at the Department of Geodesy and Land Information and will collaborate with RISE and the Swedish Transport Administration, who are partners in the project. The candidate is expected to have good knowledge in geodesy (GNSS and reference systems), physics (propagation of electromagnetic signals), and mathematics (statistics).
Supervision: Prof. Milan Horemuz and a representative from the Swedish Transport Administration are proposed to supervise the doctoral student. The final decision is made upon admission.
Admission Requirements
To be admitted to doctoral studies (Chapter 7, Section 39 of the Higher Education Ordinance), the applicant must have basic eligibility:
- completed an advanced level degree, or
- fulfilled course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 higher education credits are at an advanced level, or
- acquired substantially equivalent knowledge in some other way, within or outside the country.
- The candidate must have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, as this is required in daily work.
- The candidate must have a background in geodesy, technical physics, or another relevant subject.
In addition to the above, there is also a mandatory requirement for English equivalent to English B/6.

- analyze and work with complex issues.
Qualifications that are meritorious:
- Work experience in the field of geodesy.
- Previous experience with academic publication, participation in research projects, and teaching.
- Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Programming skills.
After meeting the eligibility requirements, great weight will be placed on personal qualities.

Information about Admission and Employment
Only those admitted to doctoral studies may be employed as doctoral students. The total employment period may not be longer than what corresponds to full-time doctoral education over four years. An employed doctoral student may, to a limited extent (maximum 20 %), perform certain tasks within, for example, education and administration. A new employment as a doctoral student is valid for a maximum of one year; the employment may thereafter be renewed for a maximum of two years at a time.
