Our Operations

Obstetrics is a section within the Department of Women's Health. The section includes the delivery ward, the newborn unit (BB), and obstetric specialist clinics. Approximately 4,000 women give birth with us each year, and we provide active newborn care both in the hospital and at home.

Within obstetrics, we work in teams with the goal of creating the greatest value for the patient. This involves many shared workflows and strong collaboration within the section for the patient's benefit. There is also the opportunity for rotation to other departments within Women's Health.

Your Role

We work in teams consisting of nursing assistants, midwives, nurses, and doctors. On the newborn unit, we work with the patient and her partner primarily after birth, but we also care for pregnant women admitted due to threatened premature birth or certain medical conditions.

The work is varied, involving medical-technical tasks, assisting with examinations, as well as performing sample collections and checks. The role also includes counseling and providing information to new parents, as well as cleaning and storage duties. Being a nursing assistant at Akademiska Sjukhuset is an exciting job where you will meet people in many different situations. You will also become part of a skilled team that supports and helps each other, while you work independently.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a trained nursing assistant with healthcare experience, preferably in emergency care, who wishes to deepen your knowledge in obstetric care and newborn care. You need to have good computer skills and experience with the medical record system Cosmic.

We see that you as a person always put the patient first, and are responsible and motivated in your work. It is important to us that you enjoy working with people in a sometimes fast-paced environment. Furthermore, that you are an engaged and positive colleague who contributes to a good work environment. You should have a strong sense of service and order. If you have this combined with curiosity and thoroughness, you may be the right person for us.

What We Offer

We offer a 1-year temporary position as a nursing assistant on the newborn unit. Irregular working hours in three shifts and weekend duty are included. The degree of employment can be discussed.
