About the School

Myranskolan is a primary school (grades F–6) with approximately 150 students and an after-school care program, located in Koskullskulle. The school employs lead teachers and class mentors who together are responsible for the students' knowledge development, safety, and social context.

The after-school care complements the school's teaching and offers a meaningful leisure time where students' interests, participation, and various forms of expression are in focus. The school also has special education teachers, a school counselor, and a school nurse who work in teams to create good and accessible learning environments for all students.

Job Description

As a student assistant, you are part of the school's student-focused work and follow a class or a specific student in grades F–6 during the school day. You work in close collaboration with teachers and other staff to create safety, well-being, and a conducive study environment, as well as contribute to an accessible learning environment where students are given the prerequisites to develop and reach their full potential.

The assignment involves:

  • being an active resource in the classroom and at the after-school care, supporting a specific student.
  • providing support to students in need of extra adjustments in teaching and social situations.
  • contributing to structure, predictability, and clarity in the school day.
  • supporting students during breaks, transitions, and joint activities.
  • collaborating with guardians regarding the student's school situation, in dialogue with the responsible teacher.
  • participating in documentation related to the school's work with norms and values.

The assignment also includes work at the after-school care before and after the school day, and substituting for staff absence when needed.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have:

  • at least a high school diploma, preferably with education within the Child and Youth Program or equivalent.
  • experience working with children and young people in school, after-school care, or other pedagogical activities.
  • a good understanding of the school's value base as well as work with safety, relationships, and group processes.

It is an advantage if you have:

  • experience working with students in need of extra support, for example within neurodevelopmental disorders (NPF).
  • experience working in accessible learning environments or with students with medical or physical needs.
  • Within the framework of the national minority language law, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is meritorious when applying for employment in Gällivare Municipality.

You are confident in your professional role, have good cooperation skills, and a professional approach towards students, colleagues, and guardians. You work independently, take initiative, and have good communication skills, as well as proficiency in Swedish in speech and writing. Great importance is attached to personal suitability.

An extract from the police record of criminal convictions is required.

Working Hours/Duration

Fixed-term employment for 6 months, from August 10, 2026 – January 10, 2027, with the possibility of extension.
