System Developer Java/Spring Boot

About the Role

We are currently seeking several experienced System Developers for a long-term consulting assignment with a government agency in Östergötland County.

The organization is undergoing a comprehensive modernization of its IT environment, gradually migrating applications developed for Java Application Server to a modern container-based platform. The role involves adapting, enhancing, and in some cases rewriting existing applications to align with an architecture based on Spring Boot, Docker, and Kubernetes.

You will work both independently and as part of established development teams to execute the migration according to the defined target architecture.

Responsibilities

• Enhance and modernize existing Java applications
• Migrate systems to a container-based platform
• Develop solutions based on Spring Boot and Spring Framework
• Work with Docker and Kubernetes in development and production environments
• Collaborate with architects, developers, and other technical specialists
• Contribute to the long-term maintenance and modernization of the system landscape

Qualifications

Requirements

• Minimum 8 years of experience in system development
• Minimum 6 years of experience with Java EE or Spring Boot, as well as Spring Framework
• Minimum 2 years of experience developing for container platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Excellent communication skills in Swedish (both written and verbal)
• CV in Swedish

Preferred Qualifications

• 7 years or more of experience with Java EE or Spring Boot, as well as Spring Framework
• Experience migrating from legacy application platforms to modern container solutions
• Experience working in large organizations or government agencies

About the Assignment

• Scope: Full-time
• Number of consultants: 4
• Assignment period: July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027
• Location: Östergötland County
• Option for remote work up to approximately 49% of the assignment duration, subject to agreement
