Driven by seeing your ideas come to life? Welcome to our exciting and technology-intensive world!

Your Role

Do you want to shape the future tactical communication solutions for some of the world's most advanced air and ground platforms? As a Technical Project Manager within BU Gripen E/F Data Links & Communications, you will become a key player in the development of secure and tactically decisive data networks for the Gripen and other platforms.

You lead the work on how aircraft communicate with each other – from voice to advanced data communication – and contribute to creating a robust tactical capability through networks in complex and demanding environments. The role entails overall responsibility where you work in the borderland between software and hardware, with a focus on flight safety-critical and tactical functions.

The section consists of approximately 30 employees organized into smaller, multifunctional teams that together cover the entire development chain. The work ranges from early concepts and requirements definition, through procurement and implementation, to verification in flight simulators and support during flight tests. As a Technical Project Manager, you are responsible for keeping the entire product chain together and ensuring that projects are driven effectively, according to plan and within set timeframes.

You have a central coordinating role between teams, stakeholders, and suppliers, where clear communication and structure are crucial. You lead with engagement and trust, create a common focus, and contribute to strong collaboration within the team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and coordinating projects, resources, and development activities
  • Driving concept development and leading requirements gathering and system design
  • Responsible for equipment procurement and collaboration with suppliers
  • Monitoring implementation, as well as participating in analysis and troubleshooting in flight simulators and during flight tests
  • Ensuring verification and delivery of functions and systems
  • Participating in international collaboration, with opportunities for travel abroad for project support and verification

Your Profile

We are looking for you who have a relevant technical education, for example in technical physics, computer science, or equivalent, and who have experience leading complex technical projects. You are accustomed to working cross-functionally and have a documented ability to drive projects forward together with specialists within different technical areas.

You have experience in system engineering and integration of advanced systems involving both hardware and software, and you feel confident in the role of technical leader. Since the work takes place in an international context, you have very good knowledge of English, both spoken and written.

To succeed in the role, you have a structured and methodical approach to work, with a good ability to prioritize and maintain a holistic perspective even when the pace is high. You take responsibility, act proactively, and remain calm even in pressured situations. You see change as a natural part of development and lead the team safely through these changes.

Attention to detail and quality are second nature to you, especially when it comes to developing safety-critical systems. You thrive in a leadership role where you both drive delivery and support, coach, and motivate the team to work smarter and more efficiently.

As a person, you are communicative, clear, and receptive, with the ability to adapt your leadership and communication style to the audience and situation. You have a genuine interest in improving ways of working, tools, and collaborations – and a strong drive to lead technically advanced projects all the way to success.

The position requires you to undergo and be approved according to current security clearance regulations. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may, in some cases, entail citizenship requirements.
