Do you want to contribute to strengthening the rule of law?

At the National Board of Forensic Medicine (RMV), experts within forensic medicine, forensic chemistry, forensic genetics, and forensic psychiatry collaborate to provide the judicial system with the answers they need. Every detail can be crucial, and whether you work directly with analyses and investigations or in a supporting role, you contribute to a society with secure legal rights.

We are now looking for a Forensic Medicine Assistant for our unit in Lund. The unit consists of approximately 25 people who work together to perform forensic autopsies and issue forensic certificates.

Your Role

As a Forensic Medicine Assistant (Autopsy Technician), your work is primarily practical. You will prepare for and assist in forensic autopsies, prepare the deceased, handle samples and CT scans, and participate in the unit's mortuary operations. Contributing practically to the tissue donation activities conducted at the unit is also part of the job, as is active participation in quality improvement work. Within the framework of your role, you may also have contact with external parties such as the police and funeral contractors.

Other tasks within the framework of the unit's and department's assignments may also occur.

Qualifications

  • Nursing education (undersköterska), or equivalent education assessed by the employer as comparable.
  • Current work experience that the employer deems relevant for the position.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish in both speech and writing.

Merits

  • Documented course/training in anatomy.
  • Current experience with autopsy operations.
  • Experience with tissue donation.

Personal Attributes and Skills

The nature of the work requires a high degree of quality awareness and precision in all procedures, as well as good teamwork skills, as autopsy operations are performed in close collaboration with other colleagues. You are expected to be a calm and stable person, sensitive to the needs of both the operation and your colleagues, and to contribute to a good work climate. The work is psychologically challenging as death investigations usually involve difficult events. To handle the strains of the job, high integrity, personal maturity, and an ethical approach are required.

The work involves both fine motor and physically demanding tasks, which places requirements on good physical fitness.

We place great emphasis on your personal attributes.

Employment

The position is permanent and full-time. Start date is by agreement. Location is at the forensic medicine unit in Lund. The National Board of Forensic Medicine applies individual salary setting. Since the authority's units are located in different places in Sweden, business travel may occur.

RMV is part of the judicial chain, and we have high demands on employees' judgment and security awareness, as well as respect for law and order. As a representative of the National Board of Forensic Medicine, you follow the government's values and contribute through your actions to legal security, legal certainty, and trust in the authority.

In some of our recruitments, a background check is conducted. We apply a competency-based recruitment process where work psychological tests, knowledge tests, or work samples may occur. Prior to the employment of licensed healthcare personnel, checks are performed with the National Board of Health and Welfare and the Inspectorate for Health and Care.

Employment at the National Board of Forensic Medicine may include a duty to be mobilized in the event of war (krigsplacering).

Do you also want to contribute to a society with secure legal rights?

We welcome your application by June 21, 2026. Grades and other documents should be brought to any potential interview.

The National Board of Forensic Medicine values a recruitment process free from discrimination and strives to provide equal opportunities for all.
