Broskolan is beautifully situated in Svedjeholmen in the southwestern part of Örnsköldsvik. We are an independent primary school with a Christian profile, covering preschool class to grade 9, as well as an after-school center and two preschool departments. The school has approximately 140 students in mixed-age classes, and our operations involve educators working closely with functions such as school administration, student health services, kitchen, cleaning, and maintenance.
In recent years, Broskolan has been engaged in active and long-term school development work. Starting in the spring term of 2018, we initiated efforts to develop a pedagogy that strengthens students' physical well-being, participation, and academic results. This work continues and is constantly evolving, with a focus on the best interests of both students and educators. Over the last three school years, we have placed special emphasis on lesson design, and moving forward, we are deepening our work in language-developing approaches.
In the role of Social Studies (SO) teacher at Broskolan, you are responsible for teaching and assessment in social studies subjects (history, geography, civics, and religion) in grades 5–7 and 9. We are looking for someone who wants to develop teaching in close collaboration with students and colleagues and who stays updated on current research. You will actively contribute to collegial learning by sharing experiences while challenging and developing both your own and others' teaching practices.
We value that you base your teaching on scientific research and proven experience, where variation, adaptation, and clear structure are natural elements. You create conditions for student influence and help students take responsibility for and develop their own learning process through clear and forward-looking feedback. In your work, you have a clear student focus and strive to create a safe, permissive, and structured classroom climate.
You have an easy time building good relationships and meet both students and colleagues with curiosity and trust. Through high expectations and strong belief in students' abilities, you contribute to teaching that is both supportive and challenging. Since Broskolan has a Christian value base, it is important that you share this worldview.
The position involves working four to five days per week, with a start date to be agreed upon in August 2026.
OTHER INFORMATION
Together, we work to create the best possible school day for our students, now and in the future. Broskolan applies tobacco-free working hours. For work with children and young people, a certificate of good conduct (extract from the police record) is required before employment. We ask applicants to document their competence in a way that allows for an objective and qualitative assessment.
