Konstfack is Sweden's largest university college of fine arts, design, and crafts. Since 1844, we have trained a wide range of professionals in these fields as well as visual arts and craft teachers. We are now looking for a qualified caseworker combined with the role of doctoral studies coordinator at the level of a Study Director for the Education and Research Administration Department (UFA). UFA is responsible for central administrative support within education and research. The department's tasks include study and education administration, quality coordination, internationalization issues and mobility, support for applicants, students, doctoral candidates, researchers, as well as support for the Education and Research Board. The position is located at UFA and the work is carried out in close collaboration with the Head of UFA and the Vice-Rector for Research and Graduate Education.

Currently, several interesting projects are underway within operational development; increased international collaboration, implementation of quality assurance systems for graduate education and research, and a focus on increased external funding and digitalization.

Konstfack's doctoral education started in 2023. It is now crucial to ensure and further develop high quality in the education. During this year, seven doctoral dissertations will be defended, in which the Study Director plays a central role.

Main Responsibilities

The role involves serving as the Study Director for Konstfack's doctoral education in artistic design within image, form, and space. The Study Director also has a central coordinating role for all the institution's doctoral candidates and the supervisor collegium. The combined role of caseworker and Study Director is largely administrative. However, it requires a doctoral degree and pedagogical competencies as a foundation, as it also involves leading the daily educational operations, as well as working on the design and follow-up of the education's content.

Examples of recurring tasks include:

• ensuring quality assurance of ISP processes and follow-up of goal achievement
• actively participating in the coordination of doctoral defenses and examination boards
• coordinating the supervisor collegium, doctoral candidates, teachers, joint seminars, and staffing for courses
• participating in the recruitment of doctoral candidates and coordinating the doctoral candidates' introduction week
• coordinating the institution's quality assurance work with follow-up and evaluation of research, including developing processes for quality assurance of research and graduate education in consultation with the Head of UFA.
• representing the graduate education in the Research and Graduate Education Committee
• coordinating research ethics issues
• actively driving the work to broaden the funding of Konstfack's doctoral education
• participating in the work to collaborate with other universities and colleges at the research level (in cooperation with the Vice-Rector for Research)
• driving and coordinating various development projects within education and research for UFA

Employment

The employment is a permanent full-time position (40 hours/week) starting with a 6-month probation period. Start date as soon as possible according to agreement.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have

• a doctoral degree
• completed the lecturer examination (lektorsprövning)
• good knowledge of artistic research and experience of similar tasks from a university college
• experience in leading or coordinating academic personnel in various forms of projects
• good language skills in both Swedish and English.

As a person, you need to be analytical and meticulous with good planning and follow-up skills. You have good pedagogical ability and can coordinate the institution's quality assurance work and other processes.

You function effectively both independently and in a group. In the role, you combine daily administrative tasks with leading educational operations and driving projects that span the entire organization and in collaboration with other institutions. Therefore, you need to be able to collaborate well with employees in different parts of the operation.

At times, the workload is high, and you need to be able to prioritize tasks independently. At a smaller institution, flexibility among all caseworkers is a prerequisite as we help each other with tasks and assignments based on the needs of the operation.
