The Specialist Care is responsible for specialized care in the county. The administration is organized into several county operations based on different medical specialties. Our hospital locations are Sundsvall, Sollefteå, and Örnsköldsvik.

The Adult Psychiatry County Clinic in Västernorrland County has three service points: Sundsvall/Härnösand, Örnsköldsvik, and Kramfors/Sollefteå. Specialized psychiatry primarily works with prevention, diagnostics, care, and treatment of mental illness and more severe mental disorders. All evening and weekend on-call activities as well as all involuntary care take place in Sundsvall and also cover Kramfors, Sollefteå, and Örnsköldsvik.

We are looking for a specialist physician for our psychiatric outpatient activity in Örnsköldsvik with duties in our Emergency Team. We offer you a positive and open work environment with competent colleagues.

The work location is Örnsköldsvik, and the work is during daytime hours. The position is a permanent full-time employment with start date as agreed.

Responsibilities

In the Emergency Team, you will work together in a team with nurses and care assistants who perform the initial assessment/triage of patients seeking emergency care. As a specialist physician in the Emergency Team, you will perform psychiatric emergency assessments and interventions if there is an immediate need for care.

Examples of tasks include:

  • Medical assessment of patients seeking emergency care for deteriorating mental health or patients admitted to other clinics in need of psychiatric consultation.
  • Home visits together with other professions in the team may occur.
  • Team-based work together with other professions in the Emergency Team.
  • Collaboration with other healthcare areas and other care partners.
  • Support as needed to other staff and junior doctors working within the healthcare area.
  • Supervision of trainee doctors is included in the duties.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who

  • Are a specialist physician in psychiatry.
  • Have experience of clinical work within psychiatric outpatient/inpatient care.
  • Have supervisor training for physicians.
  • Have good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing.

It is meritorious if you

  • Have good knowledge of the English language or other languages and master them in both speech and writing.
  • Have experience of clinical work within psychiatric emergency activities.

  • Scientific merits (if applicable)
    • Certificate of academic degree, e.g., Doctor of Medicine or Docent.
    • Complete publication list.
  • Pedagogical merits (if applicable)
    • Certificate/documentation of teaching experience.
    • Certificate of supervisor course (basic or specialist training).
  • Clinical and other merits (if applicable)
    • Certificate of sub-specialization.
    • Certificate/documentation of management assignments and/or business development.

Verification of medical license and all relevant specialist certificates via the National Board of Health and Welfare (HOSP) will take place when the application is received.
