About the Department

Department 15 is one of two departments within the Surgical/Urology/ENT unit. Here, we provide surgical care in colorectal surgery, upper gastrointestinal surgery, urology, vascular surgery, and otolaryngology (ENT). A large part of our operations is planned, but we also handle direct admissions from the emergency department and other clinics to our urological, vascular, and ENT sections. After the new year, we will also open our surgical outpatient team.

Here, you will be involved in development and improvement work that continuously moves us and our care forward.

Surgical Department 15 has 24 care beds staffed by dedicated nurses, assistant nurses, doctors, and other vital health professionals who work together in teams around the patients. We also have nurses with specialist functions. We have started a collaboration with Professor Anna Forsberg, sometimes called the "Queen of Nursing." Together with her, we are developing structures to create secure care relationships with continuity, daily systematic assessment, and analysis of the patient's health and situation according to "head to toe" (all patients must be examined by a nurse with warm hands during every work shift), as well as strengthening nurses in their leadership roles.

On the unit, you work with a digital patient overview via a personal tablet that you carry with you during your work shift. The tablet gives you an excellent overview of your patients, their tasks and conditions, medication lists, and which tasks you and your colleagues need to perform.

Do you want to become part of our team? We are now looking for nurses for Surgical Department 15 in Sundsvall. The positions are permanent full-time roles with start dates as agreed.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities include caring for postoperative and acutely ill patients, which involves practical tasks such as:

• administration of medication
• infusions and injections
• management of pain pumps

As well as more administrative tasks such as:

• patient education
• identifying care needs and risk areas

Together with our assistant nurses, you plan and lead the work with the patient in focus. Here, you gain broad competence covering surgical care for chronically and acutely ill patients, developing a deeper understanding of the patient's disease pattern. We offer you a good introduction, clear routines, competence development, and present leadership. But perhaps most importantly, we offer you a job with fantastic colleagues. You are also offered supervision by our specialist nurse in surgery. We hold regular lectures for continuous competence development.

The work involves a rotating schedule with day/evening and night shifts. Rotation to night shifts occurs only after dialogue with the manager.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who

• Are a licensed nurse. You who are studying in semester 6 of the nursing program are also warmly welcome to apply.
• Have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.
