About Stureskolan

Stureskolan is a grades 7-9 school located in central Boden with approximately 360 students. The school has a preparatory class for newly arrived students, an adapted primary school, and an international school, ISB (International School of Boden). Stureskolan is organized into four work teams, each with a special needs educator who also serves as the team leader. The school has a well-developed local student health team consisting of the principal, deputy principals, special needs educators, school counselor, school nurse, school psychologist, and study and career counselor. The school also has a safety team consisting of two safety coordinators and several safety resources who work actively to create relationships and a sense of safety during breaks in the school corridors and in our student café.

Stureskolan's focus areas are higher goal fulfillment and study environment, and we continuously develop and improve teaching in our work with BUUS (Boden develops teaching systematically).

Your role as Lead Teacher

Job Responsibilities

As a Lead Teacher with us, you combine teaching with a clear development assignment within the lower secondary science subjects. You work closely with colleagues and school leadership to develop the quality of teaching based on research, proven experience, and the school's identified needs.

The assignment involves leading and driving development work within the subject group with a focus on students' learning, language and knowledge development, and the quality of teaching.

The assignment includes a particular focus on:

• developing language-developing teaching in the science subjects
• strengthening students' conceptual understanding and scientific reasoning
• developing study skills and learning strategies in grade 7
• creating a shared vision regarding planning, assessment, and progression in mathematics and science subjects
• developing hands-on and investigative working methods
• leading collegial learning within the subject group

As a Lead Teacher, you will among other things:

• teach mathematics, biology, physics, and/or chemistry at the lower secondary level
• lead and support the subject group's development work
• drive the work with language-developing methods in science teaching
• revise and develop annual and lesson plans together with colleagues
• analyze student results and contribute to the school's systematic quality work
• develop teaching that strengthens students' study skills and learning
• contribute to the development of hands-on teaching and investigative working methods

The Lead Teacher assignment in Boden Municipality is a time-limited appointment, with a permanent position as a teacher as the base.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a certified teacher with the eligibility to teach mathematics and the science subjects at the lower secondary level.

You have very good pedagogical skills and a strong commitment to students' learning. You work in a structured manner and have good collaboration skills, are proactive in school development issues, and enjoy leading collegial learning. You have the ability to translate research and proven experience into practice and are confident in leading processes and creating participation in the work group.

It is meritorious if you have experience with language-developing methods, process leadership, or development work within lower secondary science teaching.
