Child Welfare Officer for Children and Young People in Falun!
Do you want to make a real difference for children and young people – while also feeling good at work? We are now looking for a Child Welfare Officer for Children and Young People at the Social Services in Falun!
How is the organization structured?
At the Child and Family Section in Falun, you will find a workplace where working environment, support, and sustainability are not just words – but something we actively work on every day. The section consists of several parts: intake, Children and Young People 1 and 2, Resource and Family Law, the open care service Dialogen, our own HVB (Residential Care) BUBO, and supported housing UBO. You will belong to one of our five work groups within Children and Young People.
Child Welfare Officer Group – Closer Support and Better Conditions
Do you want to be part of creating something new – with a focus on the best interests of the child?
We are currently in an exciting development phase where we are changing our working methods to further strengthen the quality of care for the children we meet. As part of this, we are launching a completely new work group with a clear mandate: to work with children placed in foster homes.
For this initiative, we are now looking for you who want to work as a Child Welfare Officer and be part of building a operation focused on focus, quality, and sustainability.
By consolidating the work around children placed in foster homes into a specific group, we create better conditions to:
- strengthen the child's participation,
- actively work with the three-part concept of parenthood,
- develop and strengthen biological parenthood through targeted interventions.
You will be part of a group consisting of a team leader and six Child Welfare Officers. Together, you will work closely with our resource group, which is responsible for support to foster homes. Over time, you will also work closely with an open care team that will provide targeted support to the children, their biological parents, and the foster homes. This creates good conditions for collaboration, a holistic perspective, and quality in every case.
Here, you receive leadership that is genuinely close. Through smaller work groups, there is room for closer and more regular meetings with your team leader, as well as ongoing support in daily work. This means better opportunities for reflection, planning, and supervision – both in individual cases and within the group.
Our purpose is clear: to create better conditions for both the working environment and the children and families we serve.
A workplace where the working environment is part of everyday life
Here, working environment efforts are not something we do "on the side" – it is part of our culture.
We actively and continuously work with exercises and structured conversations about what works well, and we regularly conduct joint wellness activities. We have a climate where laughter, collegial support, and balance in life are important values.
Our ambition is to create a workplace where both experienced and less experienced employees can thrive and grow – and where we stay together over time.
Here, you can also influence your working hours as we apply annual working hours. Thanks to our full-time agreement, you also have the opportunity to apply for a change in employment degree once a year.
A well-thought-out induction program – You are never left alone
For you who are new to us, regardless of experience, we offer a solid induction program. Our method supervisor, together with the team leader and godparents (mentors), will follow you through your first year. You will also attend various courses within the professional journey education initiative and receive basic training in Signs of Safety.
You will accompany others on conversations, collaboration meetings, and network meetings. You will receive support in your work with children placed in foster homes from both the team leader, mentors, and above all, our induction responsible method supporter. Our goal and ambition is that you should never have to stand alone in difficult or unfamiliar situations. Social work is something we do together.
Job Responsibilities
As a Child Welfare Officer here, you meet children, young people, and families who need support in life – and you get to make a real difference. Your task is to work with the placed children and their families according to both the Social Services Act (SoL) and the Act of Care of Young Persons (LVU), with the goal of creating safety and stability for children and young people.
Over time, you will handle some cases independently, but most decisions are made together in the group – we believe in the strength of collaboration and shared responsibility. We believe in long-term development and that you will grow in your professional role – while maintaining a sustainable daily work life.
Qualifications
Requirements for the role:
- Degree in Social Work (Social Worker)
- Good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing
- Valid driver's license (Category B)
Personal Attributes
We are looking for you who are communicative, structured, empathetic, and solution-focused in your approach. You have the ability to build trust through an attentive and present attitude, both in meetings with children and families and in collaboration with colleagues and other actors. As a person, we see that you are independent, but also enjoy working in teams where collaboration and shared responsibility are a natural part of everyday life. You have a good ability to structure your work and make well-founded decisions, even in complex situations.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

- Experience of authority enforcement within children and young people
