Do you want to work on an important assignment where your efforts contribute to ensuring that the welfare system functions fairly and efficiently? As a case handler in Review and Control, you help ensure that the correct benefits go to the right person. Together, we keep Sweden working. Do you want to join us?
The Unit's Mission
The Review and Control unit has a national mandate to monitor job seekers, that is, those receiving unemployment benefits, activity support, development allowance, or establishment allowance. The unit's work also helps reduce the risk of incorrect payments from the welfare system. The unit has approximately 200 employees distributed across three locations: Köping, Falun, and Norrköping.
Job Description
As a case handler in the unit, you review incoming documents from a control perspective and make an initial assessment of whether the conditions for unemployment insurance or program participant benefits are met. The case handler's task is to determine, within given frameworks, whether a message should be sent to an unemployment fund or to the Benefit Assessment unit, which in turn investigates and makes decisions regarding any sanctions.
As a case handler in the Review and Control unit, you work in several parallel case management systems and make your assessment based on the documentation available in the case. The work usually involves no direct customer contact, and we do not make final decisions in the cases. You usually work independently, but also in teams with colleagues and managers. The work requires that you can maintain high concentration and keep focus on case processing for extended periods to achieve results.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing and controlling incoming signals (e.g., submitted activity reports from job seekers, deviation reports from suppliers performing tasks on behalf of the Swedish Public Employment Service, and signals regarding missed visits/contacts)
- Evaluating based on the information in the signal and the documentation in the respective case whether a message should be sent. Compiling background material and creating messages that are then forwarded for investigation and decision-making to an unemployment fund, the Benefit Assessment unit, and in some cases also the Swedish Social Insurance Agency.
- Forwarding relevant supplementary information received in the cases to the unemployment fund and the Benefit Assessment unit. Also, responding to requests for clarification from the unemployment funds.
- Providing feedback to employment counselors when information emerges that is important for them to know in the job seeker's case (e.g., if the job seeker has found a job or started studying)
To thrive in this role, you should:
- Have the ability to work in a goal- and results-oriented manner without losing focus on quality
- Understand the importance of working legally in accordance with the regulations governing the Swedish Public Employment Service
- Enjoy working in a uniform and structured manner, have an eye for detail, and be meticulous
- Enjoy working digitally with administrative tasks
- Be able to work in a government agency undergoing continuous change
We will place great emphasis on personal suitability for the position.
