The company's power grid covers half of Uppsala as well as parts of Heby and Östhammar municipalities. Upplands Energi operates in your vicinity and is passionate about the local community – we support associations and organizations through local civic engagement. Upplands Energi is the local energy company that cares and wants to be close to the customer.

About the role

Do you want a central and driving role in a company that is developing the power grid of the future? If you want to be part of developing a modern grid with high delivery security and efficiency – then we would love to hear from you.

The power grid industry is facing its biggest change in decades. Electrification, increased power demands, cybersecurity, and new requirements for flexibility are changing how future power grids need to be planned and operated. We are now looking for a Strategic Grid Developer who wants to take overall responsibility for the grid's long-term development, capacity, and efficiency in close collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders.

Here, you will be one of the key figures in the development of the future power grid operations and have significant influence on strategic choices, working methods, and priorities. You combine technical expertise with strategic responsibility and business development, holding overall responsibility for grid planning, connections, and grid development.

The role is broad and focuses on strategic analysis and development work. You work closely with operations, maintenance, projects, finance, and management, acting as a vital link between technology, business, and IT support. The role can be adapted slightly depending on your experience and strengths, but you are expected to take overall responsibility within your area. Examples of tasks for the role include:

  • Responsible for long-term grid planning, grid analyses, capacity assessments, and identifying needs for reinvestment and grid strengthening.
  • Develop forecasts, grid development plans, and solutions related to flexibility and future power demands.
  • Coordination work within the group related to physical security and information security.
  • Act as a technical and strategic support to the organization and the Grid Manager.
  • Coordinate major connection cases and represent the company in dialogue with municipalities, authorities, business life, and industry forums.
  • Drive the development of processes, working methods, digital tools, and data-driven business development.
  • Initiate and lead improvement and development projects within power grid operations.
  • A grid operation manager role may be included in the position, as well as compliance with regulations (e.g., ESA).
  • The role is part of the Grid Manager's strategic staff and works closely with management and steering groups.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have an academic education in electrical power, energy systems, electrical engineering, or have corresponding experience from working at a power grid company. We see that you have:

  • Experience with grid planning, grid analyses, and power assessments within power grid operations.
  • Good understanding of power grid regulation, connection processes, and future capacity challenges in the energy system.
  • Ability to work strategically and translate analyses into long-term development and investment needs.
  • Interest in digitalization, data analysis, and the development of efficient working methods.
  • Good ability to collaborate and communicate with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience with NIS-systems (e.g., dpPower, DigPro, NetBas, or similar) is meritorious.
  • Experience with flexibility issues, production, energy storage, or major connections is meritorious.
  • Authorization is meritorious.
  • Valid driver's license (Category B).
  • Good proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written.

What we offer

We offer you a key role in a modern and forward-looking energy company with a developmental role within a stable and secure group. Here, we have an entrepreneurial spirit, where we appreciate proactive employees whose ideas are listened to and where you have great opportunities for influence.

We operate in a socially important industry where we are passionate about the local community. For us, it is important to have local engagement, a strong focus on our customers, high quality, and a drive towards the power grids and energy solutions of the future.

Here, you get good opportunities for personal development – we want you to have the opportunity to grow together with us.

About you

We are looking for you who are a person with both technical weight and personal maturity. We see that you are analytical and structured, independent, and used to taking ownership. You thrive in a role where you get to take initiative, are clear in your communication, solution-oriented, and development-driven. At the same time, you appreciate teamwork and have a positive attitude towards both customers, colleagues, and changes.

We will place great emphasis on your personal qualities, where we would like to see that you are advisory and social with a willingness to share your knowledge. You thrive in a role where you get to combine long-term strategic thinking with practical implementation.
