We are now looking for an engaged and relationship-building special needs teacher for Överkalix Municipality's primary school, currently placed at Strandskolan, grades 4-9.

You will work within the municipality's primary school (grades F-9) with approximately 200 students. The school is located in the central school area, which includes a primary school with an integrated preschool class, language introduction activities, SFI (Swedish for Immigrants), adult education (KOMVUX), preschool, student health services, and administration. In the immediate vicinity, there are a library, swimming pool, sports field, indoor climbing wall (islada), and gymnasium, creating excellent opportunities for collaboration and varied learning.

About the Position

As a special needs teacher with us, you will become an important part of the school's student health team, where you, together with school leadership, student health services, and educators, work to create the best possible conditions for the students' development and learning.

We are looking for you who have a strong commitment to students in need of special support and who are driven by the belief that all students can develop and achieve success with the right prerequisites, the right approach, and an accessible learning environment.

The assignment includes:

• working closely with students, guardians, and educators
• contributing to the development of accessible and inclusive learning environments
• guiding and supporting teachers in pedagogical matters
• conducting pedagogical assessments and analyses
• contributing to the school's work with extra adaptations and special support
• being a support in the school's development and student health work

We consider it particularly important that you have experience and competence within ASD/ADHD (NPF) and a relational approach where the focus is on understanding and meeting the students' different needs and prerequisites. You need to have the ability to see the whole picture regarding the student while simultaneously being able to translate special needs pedagogical competence into practical and sustainable solutions in the operation.

You will work in close collaboration with the school's staff and be an important part of the work to develop teaching so that it is adapted to a higher degree to the students' needs and prerequisites. The assignment may also include teaching and pedagogical work in the classroom based on the operation's needs and organization.

Qualifications

Education

You are a trained primary school teacher with further education and a degree as a special needs teacher or special teacher.

It is meritorious if you have:

• experience of working within different stages of primary school
• advanced competence within ASD/ADHD (NPF)
• experience of supervision and development work
• knowledge of accessible learning environments and inclusive working methods
• good knowledge of mathematics

You have good knowledge of:

• the school's steering documents and the Education Act
• pedagogical assessments and analysis work
• extra adaptations and special support
• student health work and collaboration between professions

Experience

We are looking for you who have documented experience of working with students in need of special support and who feel confident in supervising educators and contributing to school development.

You have experience of:

• adapting teaching and learning environments based on students' needs
• working solution-focused and preventive
• creating structure and security for students
• building good relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues

Experience of working within student health and cross-professional collaboration is meritorious.

We believe that you see opportunities instead of obstacles and have the ability to create calm, structure, and trust even in complex situations.

You have a relational and inclusive approach where the student's best interest always stands at the center. For you, it is obvious that teaching and learning environments need to be adapted to give all students the opportunity to develop, feel a sense of belonging, and reach their full potential.
