Do you want meaningful tasks that make a difference in people's lives? Welcome to a municipality that is far from mediocre!

The Education Administration is responsible for preschools, after-school centers, primary schools, upper secondary schools, as well as adapted primary and upper secondary schools. We have over 3,200 employees at 40 preschools, 22 primary schools, and four upper secondary schools. There is a strong commitment here to ensure that all children and students receive high-quality education, have the opportunity to develop, and reach their full potential. In Botkyrka, we see success in school as the key to a good life and the strongest protective factor for the future.

The Role and Responsibilities

We are looking for a Controller for the Education Administration who wants to contribute to long-term sustainable financial management and business development.

As a Controller, you work closely with the operations and support principals and business managers with financial matters. You analyze finances and operations and prepare decision-support materials that contribute to well-founded decisions.

A central part of the role is to work analytically in financial systems and ERP systems to follow up on results, identify deviations, and create an understanding of how resources are used. You contribute with both analysis and guidance on how the economy can develop the operations.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Support managers in budgeting, forecasting, and financial follow-up.
  • Analyze outcomes in ERP systems and identify deviations.
  • Prepare decision-support materials for management and boards.
  • Participate in the budget process, follow-up, and annual accounts.
  • Contribute to the development of financial management and follow-up tools.
  • Monitor rents and analyze operational consequences related to investments.

You work both operationally and strategically and are involved in developing working methods, routines, and models for financial follow-up and management. You are part of the Finance Unit and collaborate with controllers, controller coordinators, and accountants.

We offer you

You will become part of the Finance Unit where you work together with three controllers, one controller coordinator, and one accountant. The unit consists of a total of 17 employees with different roles and is led by the Finance Manager. You have close collaboration and meet regularly to discuss common issues, analyze the operation's finances, and develop common working methods. The Finance Unit is in a development phase where we actively work on further developing the controller role and strengthening financial management within the Education Administration. In our work, we develop common routines, working methods, and processes for analysis and follow-up.

With us, you will have a qualified assignment where you work close to the operations and contribute to analyses and perspectives that support the Education Administration's mission. You will have the opportunity to contribute your experience and be involved in how the controller function continues to develop together. Through your work, you help create the conditions for an operation that works for the future of Botkyrka's children and young people.

You who apply to us

You have an academic degree with a focus on economics. You have several years of experience in qualified financial work, for example as a controller.

Other requirements for the position:

  • Experience in producing financial analyses and decision-support materials for managers or management groups.
  • Experience working in financial systems.
  • Experience working in Excel for analysis and financial follow-up.
  • Experience documenting financial analyses or financial materials in Swedish.
  • Experience working in large ERP systems.

Meritorious:

  • Experience working as a controller within the school system in the public sector.
  • Experience with financial management or project economics in the public sector.
  • Experience working with resource allocation models.

As a controller with us, you work close to the operations and use your financial competence to create structure and clarity in analyses and follow-ups. You work systematically in budget and follow-up processes and ensure that financial materials are well-thought-out and usable for managers and leadership. Your analytical ability allows you to see connections between operations, personnel, and finance and translate complex information into clear conclusions. You are also skilled at communicating your analyses in a pedagogical way, so that financial connections become understandable and usable even for those who do not work with finance.

The work involves many contact surfaces, so it is important that you are collaborative and thrive in close cooperation with both the operations and your colleagues. You share insights and perspectives with other controllers in the unit and actively contribute to joint analyses and discussions. You are curious and want to be part of developing working methods, routines, and processes within financial management. At the same time, you are result-oriented and drive the work forward so that analyses and follow-ups lead to clear conclusions and contribute to strengthening the Education Administration's work.

For positions at the Education Administration in Botkyrka Municipality, you as a prospective employee will undergo a background check.
