Amanuens (Assistant) at Uppsala University, Department of ABM

At the Department of ABM, advanced level education is offered within the Master’s programme in ABM (Archival Science, Library and Information Science, and Museum and Cultural Heritage Science), the Master’s programme in Digital Humanities, and doctoral education in Library and Information Science. The department currently has about ten teachers and researchers as well as several doctoral students. We are now looking for a driven and positive Amanuens who wants to help manage and develop our administration.

Responsibilities: The main duties of this Amanuens involve teaching-related and departmental administrative tasks. The position also includes managing the department’s external website. Examples of tasks include:

• Production and distribution of course materials
• Recording and streaming of lectures
• Other administration related to courses
• Teaching support in connection with teaching
• Administration of the department’s external website in Swedish and English

Qualifications: To be employed, you must be an active student at Uppsala University. Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written, is required. Proficiency in computer use is a requirement. Since the work involves daily contact with researchers, teachers, and administrative staff, it is important that the Amanuens functions well within the work team. The position requires good initiative and teamwork skills, a strong sense of responsibility, and an unpretentious and positive attitude towards helping others. Active participation in the department’s work, on-site in Uppsala, is part of the role.

Desirable / Meritorious qualifications: Experience in similar tasks or other administrative experience. Ability to learn and work with different computer systems easily. Experience with the CMS tool Sitevision and the ability to adapt digital material for accessibility are also meritorious.

About the position: The employment is fixed-term according to HF 5 ch. § 12. The extent is 20–40 %. Start date: August 19, 2026, or as agreed, until June 30, 2027, but may be extended. Location: Uppsala.
