Statens institutionsstyrelse (SiS) is a government agency responsible for individualized compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse problems. SiS also implements closed youth care. We do this at youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse issues across the country. At SiS, your working life becomes an exciting challenge. SiS LVM-hem Hessleby, located in a beautiful forest setting just outside Mariannelund, receives men with alcohol, drug, or polydrug abuse. We have specialized competence in receiving clients with mental health issues or aggressive behavior. Our mandate is to provide care for clients with special care needs.
Job Description
Do you want to make a life-changing difference for vulnerable people? Then the position of Treatment Assistant at SiS is a meaningful challenge. The goal of your assignment is to motivate our young people and clients towards new and less risky ways of living. As a Treatment Assistant, you are employed to provide care and treatment. You contribute to ensuring that routines on the ward function properly and play a major role in the stability and security of our clients. You handle the basics of daily life, such as cleaning and cooking, and ensure that order and safety on the institution are maintained according to our routines. Documentation is an important part of your work. You will build secure relationships and contribute to our clients receiving the security they need to break habitual behaviors. Together with your team of dedicated colleagues, such as treatment pedagogues and treatment coordinators, you have the opportunity to achieve good results and contribute to change. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied.

Working hours are according to schedule, including days, evenings, and weekends.
Qualifications
Your personal suitability is key to life-changing change. Therefore, you need to have a good ability to create engagement and participation. It is equally important that you have a solid positive view of humanity, great empathetic ability, and the ability to build good relationships. You have good communication skills and can maintain your calm even in stressful situations. You also have the ability to collaborate with others and are happy to share your knowledge with colleagues.
You must also have:
- A minimum 2-year post-secondary education from a folk high school or university college (KY/YH) or other education equivalent to this. The education should be focused on social work, social pedagogy, behavioral science, or another relevant subject area.*
- Experience working with people in vulnerable life situations, e.g., within psychiatry, HVB (care and housing) operations, or healthcare and social care.
- Category B driver's license
- Good Swedish language skills (spoken and written)

*Exceptions to the requirement of a minimum two-year post-secondary education can be made in individual cases if there are special reasons according to Chapter 5, Section 4 of the Social Services Ordinance (2025:468).
Employment:
The position is a fixed-term contract (vacancy) on a full-time basis. Start date according to agreement.
