Do you want to develop your research and teaching in an environment where collaboration with industry and society is a given? With us, you will work with engaged colleagues, have access to modern research infrastructure, and good opportunities to attract external funding. You will be given the opportunity to make a real difference for your students, your research, and society at large.
The Department of Systems and Space Technology brings together research in areas such as computer science, information systems, signals and systems, and automation. The department has a turnover of approximately 220 million SEK, with education accounting for half and external research funding for the other half. The department has well-developed collaborations with research institutes, industry partners, universities, and other authorities in both research and student projects. The environment at the department is open, dynamic, and brings together researchers from about twenty different nationalities, as well as doctoral students and students from all over the world. At the Information Systems research group at Luleå University of Technology, we now have a need to hire a researcher in information systems with a focus on information security and information classification.
Subject Description
Information Systems focuses on the design and use of information technology in relation to people, organizations, and societies.
Project Description
You will work within a research project following the transition from Rakel to SWEN to create knowledge about how users, organizations, and authorities handle the change to a new critical infrastructure for information management and situational awareness.
Additionally, the position involves research on total defense in the northern dimension by building resilient societies under hybrid threats. In particular, you will work within a team whose research in this area is focused on critical (information) infrastructure for societal vital functions – from the seabed to space systems – and their relationship to the strategic prerequisites for control, vulnerability, and resilience in the northern dimension. Based on the unique geographical, infrastructural, economic, and demographic conditions in the far northern part of the world, the work is expected to contribute to knowledge development on how critical infrastructure and governance systems can be designed and coordinated to withstand hybrid threats and armed conflicts, thereby enabling a future-oriented total defense in a geographically exposed region.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, in addition to research within the aforementioned projects, participation in a research academy for young researchers, in national and international networks for total defense in the north, and in a collaboration platform for societal resilience that connects academics with public and private stakeholders.
The position entails that you will:
- Work on research tasks (e.g., lead and collaborate in research projects, communicate and disseminate research results via academic publications, presentations of results to various stakeholder groups, and other research communication, as well as participate in applications for external research funding)
- Network and collaborate with actors in the region, nationally, and internationally
- Be active in the research community within your own subject
Qualifications
To be eligible for employment as a researcher, a PhD in information systems or a foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a PhD is required.
The following points are meritorious:
- Ability to lead and develop research initiatives
- Experience from practice-oriented research projects related to information security
- Knowledge of risk analysis and management, information security, and information classification
- Experience in research data management
- Experience from international research collaboration
- Experience in teaching in the security area at undergraduate and/or advanced levels, as well as educational efforts for other users
- Ability to collaborate with the surrounding society
- Ability to collaborate within the university
- Knowledge of the prerequisites in the northern dimension and continuity planning in the public sector
- Ability to obtain external funding for research and development
- Good communication skills in Swedish and English, both oral and written.
This position may be subject to security classification in accordance with the Security Protection Act (2018:585).
Information
The position is full-time for up to one year from the start date. The place of work is Luleå. Start date as soon as possible or as agreed.
