Join our team! We are looking for a Special Needs Teacher for the Själevad school area, located at Haffstaskolan and/or Mycklingskolan.

The schools have approximately 100 students per unit. The schools are part of the Själevad school area and, together with students from Själevadskolan (grades F-3), they form grade 4 at Själevadskolan.

If you are new to the profession, Örnsköldsvik Municipality offers an induction program for new teachers. This means you will be assigned a mentor during your first year. Your mentor is an experienced teacher with the same subject qualifications who can guide and support you.

Responsibilities

As a Special Needs Teacher at Haffstaskolan and/or Mycklingskolan, you will teach students in small groups, individually, and in larger contexts. You will be part of the school area's support team (specteam) along with two other special needs teachers and a special educational needs coordinator. Together with the special educational needs coordinator, special needs teachers, and work teams, you will plan interventions, support, and adjustments for students. This includes, for example, learning environments and assessments at both group and individual levels, in accordance with the duties of special needs teachers and educators. Supervision and training/professional development for teachers are also included in the responsibilities.

The work also involves adapting teaching materials, creating inclusive learning environments and methods based on students' needs, and providing extra support and supervision to both students and teachers.

You should be receptive, flexible, engaged, and creative to help students develop as much as possible. Furthermore, we value good communication skills, as contact and collaboration with guardians are an important part of the job.

To succeed in the role of Special Needs Teacher, you must have a pedagogical education and experience working with students with various special needs.

Qualifications

We are looking for you with a degree as a Special Needs Teacher or a Primary School Teacher, with experience in special needs teaching roles and subject qualifications deemed suitable by the employer. Experience with students with NPF (Neurodevelopmental Disorders) and speech disorders is particularly meritorious.
