Bergvikens Preschool is moving to new premises during the autumn of 2026, and we are now looking for a staff member for the kitchen. The preschool serves breakfast, lunch, and snacks daily to approximately 70–75 preschool children and staff. The preschool has four departments, and meals are consumed on each respective department. In the kitchen, you work in close collaboration with the pedagogical activities.

We are looking for you who enjoy providing good service, have good cooperation skills, and have previous experience working in a kitchen. You enjoy building good relationships, establishing functional routines, are flexible, and positive about trying new things.

The Assignment

The assignment of Meal Service is to produce and deliver nutritious, quality-assured, and tasty meals to the municipality's core operations. We do this with ethical and environmental values in a professional manner and to the correct quality. In Piteå Municipality's preschools, schools, and elderly care, approximately 11,500 portions are produced daily.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities include final preparation and serving of the day's lunch options, preparing a varied salad buffet, as well as preparing, prepping, and serving breakfast and snacks in accordance with Meal Service's offerings. All meals must also be adapted for allergy sufferers and children with special diets. You are responsible for safe food handling, self-control, good hygiene, as well as dishwashing and cleaning in the kitchen. Furthermore, the role includes ordering food from the production kitchen and ordering goods via e-commerce according to current agreements and within the framework of the established budget. In daily work, there is dialogue with cleaning staff, educators, and children; good treatment and cooperation skills are therefore significant. In the kitchen, you work alone but in close collaboration with the pedagogical activities.

Qualifications

We would prefer that you have a restaurant education at the upper secondary level or equivalent education deemed suitable by the employer, and/or documented experience as a cook in large-scale kitchens and/or restaurants. You must have sufficient knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, for safe handling in a large-scale kitchen. Good computer skills and knowledge of the programs used in the work are meritorious. Kitchen work is physical and sometimes heavy work, which therefore requires good physical fitness.

You have the ability to adapt the work to the needs of the activity and have a holistic view of the assignment. You follow the dietary political guidelines and current routines and work towards set goals. You are professional, service-oriented, and responsive to guests' wishes. You are used to organizing and performing your work independently and actively contribute to a good work climate as well as experience sharing both within the work group and with other professional groups.

More about the position

Permanent position: Part-time, 35 hours/week.

Holiday service Monday–Friday. Holiday service means that work is performed according to the current schedule.

Start date: August 10, 2026, or by agreement.

Ongoing recruitment. Probationary period may apply.
