About the Position

We are now looking for a youth worker with a broad profile to join our team at Åre Municipality's evening-opening youth clubs. The position is a permanent part-time role at 80%.

The position is primarily located in Järpen at "Garaget" Youth Club, which is open four evenings per week. In addition to working evenings at the club, the role includes participating in team meetings, planning time, some outreach activities (aimed at reaching new and/or specific target groups of youth), and collaboration internally within the municipality and externally with various actors.

The visitors to the club are in grade 5 and older. Since they attend voluntarily, this places a demand on the activity to be enjoyable and of high quality. The work involves significant contact with people, primarily youth, and it is important to be responsive and interested in human relationships.

Your Responsibilities

• Being a good role model who, with engagement and good treatment, captures the ideas and thoughts of young people.
• Valuing differences and understanding how background, culture, and group affiliation affect oneself and others, and taking this into account when making decisions and choosing courses of action.
• Working from a coaching approach to support young people's ideas and projects and guide them toward a meaningful leisure time.
• Taking initiative, making quick decisions when necessary, being flexible, self-reliant, and confident in creating new contacts with other actors.
• Having an interest in music or motors is advantageous, as this is in high demand among many young people.

Qualifications and Merits

We prefer that you have an educational background from the Child and Youth Program at the upper secondary level, or a youth worker education at a folk high school or equivalent competence acquired in other ways. Other desirable competencies include:

• Experience working with young people, preferably at a youth club.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure, be driven, self-reliant, and proactive.
• Good teamwork skills.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability for the composition of the work team.

Employment Terms

The employment is permanent. The position is vacant subject to no surplus staff, need for reassignment, or precedence existing in the municipality. An extract from the criminal record must be submitted before the position can be commenced. Probationary employment may be applied.
