The Department of Government at Uppsala University is seeking a Research Assistant for an exciting project focused on climate adaptation and natural disasters. The department belongs to the Faculty of Social Sciences and employs approximately 100 staff members in teaching, research, and administration.
Job Description
This position is part of the research project "Enabling climate-resilient development", funded by the Marianne and Marcus Wallenberg Foundation, and is led by Professor Daniel Nohrstedt and Charles Parker. The role is also affiliated with the Centre for Disaster Studies (CNDS) at Uppsala University.
Your main responsibilities will include collecting, coding, and processing public documents. The focus will be primarily on documents from the United Nations (UN), as well as materials from individual countries. The work involves identifying countries' climate efforts and experiences with natural disasters. You will work independently but in close collaboration with other project members, and assist in organizing already collected information.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Political Science or equivalent.
- Attention to detail, independence, and strong analytical skills.
- Very good command of English (written and spoken).
- Documented experience with transcription and translation tools.
- Experience in data collection and analysis within the project's research field.
- Knowledge of archival material from the UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) and statements from conference of the parties.
