Örnsköldsvik Gymnasium has two school buildings, Parkskolan and Nolaskolan. A total of approximately 1,800 students study here, distributed across five university-preparatory programs, ten vocational programs, as well as introductory programs and adapted upper secondary education. Örnsköldsvik Gymnasium is designated as a training school, meaning that student teachers (VFU) are a regular part of the school.
At Örnsköldsvik Gymnasium, there is a long tradition of educating students for a future elite career in their chosen sport, combined with eligibility for further studies or a profession. Currently, we offer National Sports Programs (NIU) in football, floorball, and ice hockey for both boys and girls. Approximately 50 students are admitted to these programs annually.
Responsibilities
You will serve as the lead special physical education teacher for boys admitted to the NIU program with a focus on ice hockey. You will teach in the subjects of Special Physical Education as well as Training and Competition Theory. Teaching will primarily take place with boys, but you will also interact with girls, both on the ice and in the classroom. Your duties include teaching, planning, documentation, and communication with students and guardians. The role also involves collaborative work with subject teams, work groups, and our partner club, MoDo Hockey.
Recruiting future students is an important part of the job, and you will be responsible for ensuring this is done according to current regulations. The recruitment process is carried out in collaboration with your colleagues and our partner club, MoDo Hockey.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a certified upper secondary school teacher with subject competency in Special Physical Education. Additionally, you must have completed the Swedish Ice Hockey Association's Elite Coach Education (ETU) with passing grades.
We seek someone who enjoys being challenged and thinking creatively, and who sees diversity and differences as a foundation for learning and development. You are a confident adult and a clear leader, both on the ice and in the classroom. Being a role model and creating a positive atmosphere within the student group and the work team is second nature to you.
It is an advantage if you have experience with elite-level ice hockey, either as a coach or a player.
You should have experience leading group processes, the ability to create structure, and the skill to adapt teaching based on the needs of the group and individuals. You are attentive, take responsibility, are engaged, and creative.
As a special physical education teacher, you will have extensive contact with students, guardians, colleagues, partner clubs, and federations. This places high demands on communication skills, willingness to collaborate, and administrative competence.
Please attach your CV and a cover letter to your application. In the event of employment, an extract from the Police Register (criminal record) must be presented to the employer.

During the interview process, we will conduct an identity check and verify citizenship. Accepted documents include a passport, international ID card, driver's license plus a personal certificate from the Swedish Tax Agency, or another ID document that strengthens proof of citizenship. For some positions, an extract from the police's suspicion and criminal registers is required.
