In this role, you will work for the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket), a government agency responsible for Sweden's long-term infrastructure planning, as well as the operation and maintenance of state roads and railways. The agency works towards an accessible Sweden where people and businesses can travel and transport goods in a convenient, safe, and sustainable manner.

Trafikverket has operations throughout the country. This assignment is located within the Investment West Region, based in Gothenburg.

Trafikverket is seeking a resource consultant in the role of Project Engineer for Railway Unit 1 within the Investment West Region. The assignment involves working as project management support for project managers, specialists, and other project team members across several railway projects in various stages.

As a Project Engineer, you will work closely with the project manager and support the project's control regarding time, cost, and content. The role requires you to be self-reliant, forward-thinking, and to take active responsibility for both the planning and execution of tasks.

The assignment also includes knowledge transfer to Trafikverket employees regarding the tasks performed by the resource consultant.

As a Project Engineer, your tasks and areas of responsibility will include, but are not limited to:

• Acting in a coordinating capacity and providing support and sounding board to project managers and the project organization
• Creating and following up on project management documentation
• Driving and preparing agreed-upon issues, and acting as deputy project manager when necessary
• Managing system support, and creating, updating, and following up on project schedules
• Responsible for reporting schedules and partial times to the controller and client
• Setting up, updating, and following up on project economics, forecasts, and invoicing in current system support tools
• Performing economic follow-ups such as authorizations and inventories
• Supporting requirements management through work with internal control programs, requirement lists, and deviations
• Coordinating and supporting project risk management and preparing decision-making materials
• Supporting and coordinating procurement processes, including the preparation of task descriptions and tender documents
• Managing communication with external parties in consultation with the project manager
• Performing administrative project support such as meeting minutes, case management, document structure, permissions, and reports
• Handling security-classified information and contributing to SUA analyses when necessary

The tasks are shaped in dialogue with the project manager based on the needs of the projects.

The resource consultant must meet the following competency requirements, which must be clearly stated in the CV and references according to the specified verification:

• University or college degree in economics, engineering, or construction, or alternatively other education combined with experience that Trafikverket collectively assesses as equivalent
• As a person: result-oriented, proactive, and with good ability to build relationships and collaborate
• At least 3 (three) years of experience within the last 6 (six) years working as a project engineer, contracting engineer, designer, site manager, project coordinator, or project economist, or a corresponding role
• At least 80% employment rate in reference assignments that individually had a production budget of at least 50 million SEK
• Experience in forecasting, cost follow-up, and invoicing management
• Experience in risk management and good experience in project scheduling, including work in MS Project
• Very good familiarity and experience working in the Office suite
• Experience with Trafikverket's administrative systems C7, Projektportalen, ProjectWise, or equivalent
• Good spoken Swedish and very good written Swedish
• Valid driver's license for passenger car
• Education and good knowledge of AB, ABT, and ABK contracts
• Training in BASÄVISTA (Working individually on tracks), completed within the last three years

All required education must be approved and valid at the start of the assignment.

• Value-Added Requirement 1: Multi-year experience in project administration within railway projects
• Value-Added Requirement 2: Experience in economic follow-up and forecasting in construction projects and/or within Trafikverket
• Value-Added Requirement 3: Good to very good collaboration skills and relationship-building work style

• Start Date: 2026-08-24
• Assignment Period: Until 2027-11-15
• Extension Option: +6 months
• Scope: 80–100%
• Location: Gothenburg
• On-site Presence: Physical presence at Trafikverket's office 4 days per week
• Remote Work: Possibility for remote work one day per week
• Equipment: Trafikverket provides computer and workspace

Travel in the role may occur.
