The County Administrative Board is an expert authority in areas such as nature and environment, community planning and rural affairs, directly subordinate to the Government. We act as a link between people, municipalities, regions, and various authorities. We work to ensure that national goals are implemented in the county. We do this by taking a holistic approach to our regulatory activities, by disseminating knowledge, and by coordinating and developing various policy issues. Sustainable development gives the future opportunities in a Södermanland for all.
We can, we want, and we dare – do you want to be one of us?
The County Administrative Board of Södermanland County is now looking for a case officer for the Community Planning Department, Planning and Building Unit. Within the Community Planning Department, there are also units for cultural heritage, civil protection and preparedness, and social sustainability. The common mission is to contribute to good community planning and sustainable community building.
The Planning and Building Unit is led by the Unit Manager, who also serves as the County Architect. The unit currently has nine employees who monitor and promote good living environments for the people in the county. The unit works for long-term sustainable community building with "the human in the center", coordinates state interests, makes balanced assessments, and provides advice and support in cases concerning land use for housing, infrastructure, and facilities. The unit also distributes and manages state support to the housing sector, prepares planning materials for the municipalities' physical planning, and is responsible for the County Administrative Board's GIS coordination.
Job Responsibilities
The current assignments include handling policy issues within the unit's area of responsibility, including a new time-limited assignment to assist the Government in the development of national planning and the coordination of climate adaptation within the authority. You will prepare materials for management, process cases, and drive processes within your policy area. Administrative tasks are also included. Other tasks that may occur include handling cases regarding comprehensive plans, detailed development plans, land division cases, and infrastructure cases.
The work takes place in a continuous and close dialogue with your manager, leadership, and colleagues within the unit and the County Administrative Board. In some tasks, you will also have contact with the county's municipalities, other units within the County Administrative Board, and other authorities.
Your Background
To be considered for this role, you must meet all requirements, and preferably also the merit criteria.
Requirements:
- University or college degree in a field relevant to the role.
- Current experience of a few years of case handling work within a state authority or public administration.
- Knowledge of Swedish public administration.
- Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English.
- You have a valid driver's license (Category B).
Merits:
- Experience of case handling work within a County Administrative Board.
- Experience of working with detailed, comprehensive, or regional planning.
- Experience of steering and following up on projects.
- Knowledge of the unit's policy areas.
- Experience of working with the unit's other policy areas.
We are each other's work environment, and great importance is placed on your personal qualities. We want you to:
- Have the ability to prioritize, stick to set timeframes, and bring to completion what you have started.
- Be good at collaborating and communicating with others, but also be able to work independently with assigned tasks.
- Enjoy developing yourself, developing ways of working, and contributing to positive change, and see it as a given to contribute to a good work climate.
For us, it is important that you can perform the assignment, want to steer towards the goals, and dare to make the changes required to achieve results for the county.
