At the Department of Data and Electrical Engineering, education is offered in the subjects of computer science, electronics, electrical engineering, and sound production. Research at the department takes place at the research center Sensible Things that Communicate (www.miun.se/stc) and focuses on sensor-based systems and services for use in the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence.
Responsibilities
The duties will primarily consist of teaching on the two-year distance program in Web Development. As the field is constantly evolving, course development will also be a significant part of the role. You will be part of a team and collaborate with other dedicated teachers.
The position is located at Mittuniversitetet's campus in Sundsvall. The Web Development program is offered online, which allows for remote work; however, you are expected to be on campus at least 60% of the time. If you do not already live in the region, a larger proportion of remote work may be accepted initially, potentially in connection with the probationary period, subject to agreement.
Qualifications
To be employed as a University Lecturer (Universitetsadjunkt), one must be eligible according to the requirements described in Mittuniversitetet's employment regulations. For this position, this includes, among other things, a minimum of 180 higher education credits, comprising at least 90 credits or equivalent competence in the subject of computer science.
Assessment Criteria
The assessment criteria for employing a University Lecturer concern the level of skill required for eligibility. The evaluation of pedagogical skill shall be given equal care as the assessment of other eligibility requirements.
In addition to formal eligibility requirements, knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, JS frameworks (React, Vue, or Angular), server-side web development (Node.js/Express), cloud services for publishing, as well as Git and version control is required. Furthermore, it is meritorious if you also have knowledge of multiple JS frameworks, C# and .NET, CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress, Sitevision, or Umbraco), headless CMS (Sanity, Contentful, Strapi), CI/CD and Docker, WCAG and accessibility, and the use of AI tools in development work.
Teaching experience is meritorious, especially if it has been at the university level, within the field of web development, or online. Practical professional experience as a web developer is also meritorious. You must be fluent in Swedish, both in speech and writing.
Personal Qualities
You should be responsible, have high social competence and good teamwork skills, but also be able to work independently.
Processing
The processing of the employment follows the forms specified in Chapter 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance and proceeds in accordance with Mittuniversitetet's employment regulations.
Employment and Start Date
Permanent employment with a scope of 100% full-time, with a start date of 2026-08-17 or as agreed.
