Project Description

This recruitment is for a researcher position within the research project: "Which aspects of stay at SiS special youth care homes can contribute to resilience?" (WIRE).

The WIRE Project

Youth placed in SiS special youth care homes constitute a highly vulnerable and complex population. The present project aims to increase the understanding of which aspects of the stay at SiS special youth care homes can contribute to resilience, i.e., resistance to continued adverse life conditions. In the project, we will focus on young people who were placed in an SiS home during the period 2000–2021, for whom we intend to link information from the ADAD discharge interview – concerning interventions, cooperation, participation, influence, well-being, support, and security – with national registers.

Using various statistical methods, we will investigate: (A) what conditions, experiences, and perceptions associated with the stay at SiS homes look like and what changes have occurred over time, (B) whether this differs depending on placement characteristics and individual characteristics, and (C) to what extent conditions, experiences, and perceptions associated with the stay at SiS homes predict socioeconomic and psychosocial conditions during a five-year period after discharge.

Focusing on which aspects of young people's conditions, experiences, and perceptions during placement at SiS homes are linked to positive outcomes or the absence of negative outcomes – what we here see as expressions of resilience – can provide important insights into how care can be designed to strengthen life chances among particularly vulnerable groups of individuals.
