Line Manager for General Courses and Study/Career Guidance at Workers' Movement Adult Education College in Gothenburg
Västra Sveriges Arbetares FolkhögskolaVästra Götalands län, Göteborg
Previous experience is desired
Do you want to help shape the future of adult education in Gothenburg?
The Workers' Movement Adult Education College in Gothenburg (AFIG) is looking for a Line Manager for General Courses with responsibility for study and career guidance.
Are you passionate about adult education and want to give people the best tools for their future path in life? Do you have a pedagogical mindset, organizational skills, and experience in study guidance? Then you might be the one we are looking for!
About the position
The Workers' Movement Adult Education College in Gothenburg is now seeking an engaged colleague for a combined role. You will split your time between the role of Line Manager for General Courses and working with study and career guidance (SYV). The position does not include employer responsibility, but you will become a key person in the school's development and will be part of our resource team, responsible for supervising the school's participant assistants.
Together with the principal, you will discuss and establish a good balance between the different areas of responsibility in the role.
Your main tasks:
- Pedagogical development and coordination: You will work closely with the principal to coordinate, drive, and develop the operations for the General Course. During the academic year 2026/27, this includes four on-site classes and three digital distance classes (where you primarily support the two course coordinators).
- Study and career guidance: You will guide participants individually during their schooling and provide support for their path forward after school, while collaborating closely with our administrator regarding participants' study planning.
- Resource team: You are responsible for coordinating the school's resource team and mapping participants' needs. You act as a sounding board for both teachers and participant assistants and have frequent contact with individual participants.
- Leading meetings: You plan and lead pedagogical meetings with colleagues and staff.
Who are you?
We are looking for someone who understands, appreciates, and believes in adult education as a form of study – an environment with great faith in human potential. You have a strong drive for the development of both participants and the school, and share the fundamental values of the workers' movement.
To thrive in this role, you need to be collaborative, clear, and genuinely committed. Since the role is multifaceted, you must be able to juggle multiple tasks and have a good ability to plan, prioritize, and organize your work. You also have a good understanding of and experience with the target group of the adult education college.
Qualifications and merits:
- Education in or substantial experience and knowledge within study and career guidance (training in SYV is highly meritorious).
- Pedagogical education or equivalent experience (meritorious).
- Experience working at an adult education college (meritorious).
- We prefer that you have experience with SchoolSoft, or that you pick up digital tools easily.
