The Faculty of Law in Uppsala is the oldest law faculty in the Nordic region and existed even when the university was founded in 1477. Here you will find an extensive and highly regarded undergraduate and graduate education. The Faculty houses the Department of Law, where approximately 200 people are employed.

Job Responsibilities

As a teaching assistant, you will assist course coordinators and course administrators with administrative tasks aimed at students in the Law Programme, as well as programme students taking law courses within our department. You will have contact with practicing lawyers both within and outside the faculty. Main responsibilities include the preparation and distribution of course materials, scheduling, contact with students, course evaluation, attendance reporting, administration of the university's web-based communication system, and examination administration.

Qualifications

As an applicant, you must be an active student in the Law Programme at Uppsala University. You should have good knowledge of the structure and pedagogical approach of the Law Programme. Good computer skills, strong administrative abilities, and proficiency in Swedish and English are required. Since the work involves daily contact with both students and staff, it is important that you have a high sense of service and responsibility, as well as good organizational skills. You should have good initiative and planning skills, as well as the willingness and ability to collaborate with various staff groups.

Employment as a teaching assistant is regulated in Chapter 5 of the Higher Education Ordinance. Only those admitted to undergraduate or advanced level studies may be employed as teaching assistants (HEO Chapter 5, Section 10).

Please note that having taken an advanced course is not a requirement to apply for this position.

We prefer that you, as an applicant, are able to work with us for at least 12 months.

About the Position

The position is fixed-term according to HEO Chapter 5, Section 12. The extent is 30%. Start date: August 3, 2026, or as agreed. Location: Uppsala.
