to apply for the job
At Konecranes in Värmland, the team continues to grow alongside an expanding customer base and an increasing number of assignments. We are now looking for an additional Industrial Electrician to join our service group, where eleven technicians currently work closely together visiting customers throughout the region.
Konecranes is a global leader in material handling with over 16,000 employees worldwide. At the same time, operations in Karlstad are characterized by something much more down-to-earth. Here, we work closely together, support each other in daily tasks, and build long-term relationships both within the team and with our customers.
– “What keeps people here is the combination of freedom, variety, and cohesion. We have very different experiences in the group, but a strong drive to help each other,” says Ola Rising, Operations Manager at Konecranes.
A role where troubleshooting is part of everyday life
As an Industrial Electrician at Konecranes, you will work with service, troubleshooting, and maintenance of cranes, hoists, and other lifting equipment at customer sites in the region.
A large part of the job involves keeping equipment running that is crucial for our customers' production. In some cases, this involves planned service and preventive maintenance. In other cases, it means responding quickly when something stops and understanding what is causing the problem.
You will work with everything from motors, contactors, and variable frequency drives to older relay-based solutions and more modern control systems. The role does not involve programming new systems, but you need to be confident in troubleshooting, following functions, and understanding the interaction between electricity, control, and mechanics at the facility.
– “It is important to feel confident in troubleshooting and enjoy understanding how things work in practice. At the same time, you don’t need to know everything from the start. There is a lot of experience in the team, and we help each other a lot in daily work,” says Ola.
From one facility to many different environments
Unlike a traditional industrial environment where you work on the same machinery every day, here you have the opportunity to visit several different customers and operations.
This means variety, but also development. You will see different types of facilities, troubleshoot in new environments, and build a broad technical understanding over time. For many, it is precisely the combination of technology, problem-solving, and customer contact that makes the role particularly stimulating.
The service technicians start from home and drive directly to the customer. The area covers primarily Värmland, Dalsland, and parts of Örebro County.
A long-term commitment
Konecranes places great emphasis on introduction, education, and development. New employees work alongside experienced colleagues at the beginning and gradually grow into the role. There are also great opportunities to develop further within the company over time, both technically and in other roles.
– “We want people to feel that this is a place where they can continue to develop for a long time. Many who start with us stay for a long time, and several have also moved on to other roles within the company later,” shares Ola Rising.
Examples of tasks
- Troubleshooting in operational environments
- Preventive service and maintenance
- Repairs and component replacements
- Work with motors, contactors, and drives

Are you the one we are looking for?
We believe you have worked for a few years in industry, for example as an industrial electrician, service technician, or automation technician, and are familiar with troubleshooting in operational environments.
You do not need prior experience with cranes, but you need to feel confident in reading electrical diagrams, reasoning about functions, and methodically working through troubleshooting. The role also involves working at heights, which means you need to be comfortable working in lifts and up on cranes at customer sites.
We would like you to have:
- Secondary education in electricity/electrical engineering
- Experience with troubleshooting in operational environments
- Familiarity with working with motors, drives, and control systems
- Good knowledge of Swedish and English
- Valid driver’s license (Category B)
To thrive in this role, we also believe you appreciate freedom with responsibility, enjoy meeting people in daily work, and like the combination of technology and practical work at customer sites.
