Gränsskolan is now looking for a teacher in Mathematics and Natural Sciences for the lower secondary school, and we want you to become part of our team!

Your Responsibilities

You work in work teams and are responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of teaching according to our guiding documents. Together, we strive for an active approach to relationship-building. It is important to us that our students feel secure because the educators work in teams where each subject teacher contributes teaching based on their competence. Collaboration takes place with senior mentors who are responsible for mentoring at the school; therefore, this position does not include traditional mentoring.

We see the "red thread" – meeting students and following them over time – as very important. You will work in a pleasant school where there is close collaboration between all staff categories. You contribute to further developing our common culture: all students are everyone's students. The school's vision is: "A school that everyone wants to come to, feels good in, and learns in." Your Profile

You find it inspiring and developmental to work with students. You are a creative person who enjoys working with young people and puts the student at the center. You are responsible, structured, and quality-conscious. You take initiative and want to support students so they reach their goals. You have a positive and inclusive attitude, good collaborative skills, and communicate from a solution-focused perspective in every meeting with colleagues, students, and parents.

You have good pedagogical skills and can inspire and engage students in learning based on their different needs, letting these needs guide your evaluation of your teaching. We see that you are a confident and experienced leader with good knowledge of leading a student group towards the goals of the curriculum, both the knowledge-based and value-based goals. Furthermore, you easily create trusting relationships. You value close collaboration with colleagues, students, parents, and school management, are open to others' knowledge, strive to always develop your teaching, and participate in collegial learning.

The Employment

We are looking for a certified teacher in Mathematics/Natural Sciences for grades 7–9, or alternatively grades 4–6 for teaching in grades 7–9.

Ability to communicate in Finnish, both orally and in writing, is an advantage.

Gränsskolan is a school in a strong phase of development, and we have high expectations for staff to participate and contribute to the development work.

In accordance with the Education Act, an extract from the police record of convictions must be presented upon employment within preschool, preschool class, after-school center, compulsory school, and upper secondary school.
