to apply for the job
Do you want to work on building the next generation platform for business-critical communication, where Kubernetes, automation, and modern delivery pipelines are at the center? Generic is now looking for a Platform Engineer (DevOps) who wants to take overall responsibility for the development, operations, and further development of a modern, cloud-native platform. At Generic, you work at the intersection of development and operations in an environment where the focus is on scalability, automation, and robust delivery pipelines – not classic operations. This role is perfect for you if you are experienced with Kubernetes in production, have worked with CI/CD and GitOps, and want to help build a modern platform architecture from the ground up.
Information about the role
Professionals Nord is recruiting on behalf of Generic for a Platform Engineer (DevOps) within platform and infrastructure. This is a direct hire position, meaning the recruitment process is handled by Professionals Nord, and you will be employed directly by Generic.
This recruitment process is managed by Professionals Nord, and Generic requests that all questions regarding the role be directed to [email protected].
What we offer
At Generic, you will work on building and further developing a modern Kubernetes-based platform for business-critical communication. Here, technical depth is combined with significant responsibility and a high degree of autonomy.
You will:
- Work on building and operating a modern platform based on Kubernetes and GitOps
- Take overall responsibility for CI/CD, automation, and delivery pipelines
- Help shape architecture, working methods, and technical choices
- Work in a small, technically strong team with short decision-making paths
- Have the opportunity to influence how a future-proof platform is built from scratch
The entire company gathers twice a year to build culture and community. Generic believes in transparency, collaboration, and close interaction between technology and business.
Responsibilities:
As a Platform Engineer (DevOps), you are a key person in the development of Generic's next-generation platform. The role is clearly platform- and development-oriented with a focus on automation, operational stability, and modern delivery pipelines.
You will work with:
- Design, construction, and operation of Kubernetes-based platforms
- CI/CD pipelines and end-to-end deployment automation
- Implementation and further development of GitOps flows
- Observability (metrics, logs, tracing) for production services
- Container-based systems and microservices
- Incident management, debugging, and root cause analysis in production
- Ensuring high availability, performance, and security
- Networking and traffic flows (routing, load balancing, firewalls)
- Automation of operations and operational processes
- Close collaboration with development teams to ensure operability
Practical work in the data center may occur, but it is not a central part of the role.
You will be based at one of Generic's offices in Örebro and report to, and work closely with, Generic's CTO Fredrik.
We are looking for you who:
We place great emphasis on personal qualities. You are self-motivated, structured, and take responsibility for the entire platform's stability and development. You work methodically when debugging, document clearly, and are accustomed to making decisions even in complex and rapidly changing environments. You have experience building and operating modern systems in production and thrive in a role where you combine development, automation, and operations at the platform level.
Expected experience
- Kubernetes in production (operations, scaling, debugging)
- Linux in production environments
- CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar)
- Container technology (Docker/containerd)
- Networking: routing, VLAN, TCP/IP, and traffic flows
- Debugging in distributed systems
Desirable experience
- GitOps (e.g., ArgoCD)
- Cloud (e.g., Azure)
- Observability (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, ELK/Loki)
- Messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar)
- Infrastructure as Code / automation (Terraform, Ansible, Python, Bash)
- Advanced Kubernetes networking (e.g., Cilium/eBPF)
- Experience from telecom or CPaaS
