Support Assistant for Group Housing in Borlänge
We are currently looking for a new colleague to work as a support assistant with individuals who have intellectual disabilities and fall under the LSS (Act concerning Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments) target group. In our group housing facility, four residents live in their own apartments. They have different personalities, impairments, and needs, creating a rich and varied work environment.

Responsibilities
As a support assistant, you will carry out daily, planned support interventions and activities together with the residents. The goal is to promote the residents' integrity and participation, always respecting their self-determination. The resident's needs are at the center, and their views are actively taken into account. We aim to support residents in their right to determine their own lives and develop their abilities to live as independently as possible.
The work is challenging and requires a flexible approach within clear frameworks. You need to be creative and able to adapt your working style to the daily situation, both to achieve daily goals and to maintain a good structure in the long term.
Requirements and Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- Education in Child and Youth Care (focus on social/pedagogical work), Care and Assistance Program (specialization in functional impairment), Psychiatry/Nursing Education, or other education deemed equivalent by the employer.
- Documented experience working with individuals within the LSS target group.
- Documented experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities.
- Experience with methods for creating a structured environment and an understanding of the importance of structure, both in interactions with residents and in administrative tasks.
- Good proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written, as communication and documentation are central to the role.
- Computer literacy and experience with documentation systems.
Personal Attributes:
You work in a team with other staff to create routines and structure. In daily interactions with residents, you need to be secure, calm, and patient. You should be able to work independently within given structures but also take initiative to resolve unexpected situations. As a person, you are responsible, sensitive, structured, and solution-oriented.
You have the ability to plan for and work in the present, while also being able to step back to see the big picture and work towards long-term goals. In the team, you are unpretentious, communicative, and have an open-minded approach when analyzing work methods and situations.
Merits:
- Training in low-affective handling (Lågaffektivt bemötande).
- Training in Psychiatry/Neuropsychiatric disabilities.
- Training/experience with OCD.
- Driver's License Category B.
