Senior Control System Designer (Electrical Designer) – Hydropower & Power
Futuria People ABJönköpings län, Jönköping
Previous experience is desired
Do you currently work with control systems in hydropower – or have you done so in the past – and are you looking to take the next step in technically advanced projects that drive the fossil-free energy transition forward?
We are now looking for a Senior Control System Designer (Electrical Designer) to join a leading player in the power industry. You will work close to the core of Sweden's energy supply, with a special focus on hydropower and the modernization of existing facilities.
The recruitment process is handled by Futuria People, specialists in competence sourcing for the energy and technology sectors. All questions regarding the position should be directed to the responsible recruitment consultant at Futuria People.
About the Client
The client is a Nordic provider of turnkey electrical and automation solutions within power distribution, industry, as well as wind, solar, hydro, and thermal power. With approximately 500 employees and over 35 years of experience, the group combines specialist competence with financial stability and long-term vision.
Unlike many traditional consulting firms, the client operates as a contractor, taking overall responsibility for projects – from design to finished facility and commissioning. This means they deliver complete solutions where functionality, quality, and execution are the focus.
In Sweden, the company is in an expansion phase. The organization consists of a highly specialized team with strong technical competence and short decision-making paths. Here, you find both the flexibility and closeness of a smaller company – and the strength and resources of a Nordic group backing you.
The culture is characterized by trust, engagement, and a strong sense of community where colleagues help each other and share knowledge. The company places great emphasis on employee well-being and offers secure, collectively agreed terms, generous benefits, and good opportunities for competence development and internal career growth.
They are now strengthening their Swedish organization and seeking more experienced electrical designers who want to help develop future power facilities – with the possibility to work from anywhere in Sweden, either from the office or remotely.
About the Role
As a Senior Control System Designer (10–400 kV), you work with the electrical design of control systems for switchyards and transformer stations. You take independent responsibility for parts of – or the entire – control system and ensure that the technical solution meets contracts, laws, regulations, and current standards.
The role involves working in various power projects, where experience from, for example, hydropower plants and work in existing operational environments is particularly valuable.
You will become a key person in projects where you not only design but also contribute your understanding of how existing facilities can be modernized and integrated with new technology, for example within control, protection, and monitoring.
You work closely with project managers and other specialists and have significant influence over technical solutions, quality, and execution.
Examples of Responsibilities
- Design of control systems for switchyards and stations (10–400 kV)
- Work in both new construction projects and modernization/upgrading of existing facilities
- Preparation of:
- Single-line diagrams
- Functional and interlocking diagrams
- Circuit and installation diagrams
- Integration of new systems into existing facilities
- Participation in FAT, SAT, and commissioning
- Review and updating of existing documentation
- Technical advisory support in tender work
We are looking for someone who
- Has at least 5 years of experience in control system design (10–400 kV)
- Has worked with hydropower, station projects, or similar power projects
- Has experience in modernization/upgrading of existing facilities (extra merit within hydropower)
- Is accustomed to working with technical documentation and existing systems
- Has experience with FAT, SAT, and commissioning
- Is proficient in Eplan, Master Concept, E3, or similar tools
- Fluent in Swedish (written and spoken) and has good English skills
What We Offer
- A key role in a growing company within energy and electrification
- Opportunity to work on critical infrastructure hydropower and power projects
- An organization with high technical competence and short decision-making paths
- Flexible working arrangements and remote work opportunities
- Secure and competitive terms
- Great opportunities for competence development
