About the Department

The Forensic Psychiatric Regional Clinic (RPK) in Sundsvall is one of the largest clinics in the country for the care of patients under the Act on Forensic Psychiatric Care (LRV). In addition to the inpatient wards, we have a newly built center building with activities for our patients and an administrative unit that supports the operations. The clinic is located in Sundsvall, a dynamic city with a rich cultural scene and proximity to fantastic nature, offering unique opportunities for outdoor life and recreation.

The department is in an exciting expansion phase where we are building the future of forensic psychiatric care. In March, we take a major step forward by opening a completely new ward – the second of two new inpatient units. This development brings us closer to the goal of having a total of 10 inpatient wards and 137 care places in modern and purpose-built care facilities. We are not there yet, but we are on the right track!

We are now looking for a Specialist Physician/Consultant Physician to join us at RPK. The position is a permanent, full-time employment with a start date to be agreed upon. Here you have excellent opportunities to conduct research and participate in forensic psychiatric investigation activities in the form of Section 7 examinations. If you are a specialist in psychiatry, there is an opportunity to complete specialist training (ST) in forensic psychiatry via the clinic.

Responsibilities

As a Specialist Physician/Consultant Physician with us, you will perform standard inpatient care and outpatient work, individually and together with medical colleagues and other professions for assessments and treatments of patients. In addition, you will also:

• Participate in administrative court work
• Work at a specific ward at the clinic
• Work with standby and on-call duties

We work with order and precision, while also valuing the freedom to act within clear frameworks. A structured care process unites our work, and our certified management and quality system gives us the prerequisites to focus on what really matters.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who

• Is a licensed physician with specialist certification in psychiatry
• Has work experience from inpatient care
• Has good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing

It is an advantage if you

• Are a specialist physician in forensic psychiatry
• Have additional education in relevant areas for the position and operations
• Have longer experience of closed psychiatric care within general or forensic psychiatry
• For the consultant physician position, 3 years of clinical service is required with broad knowledge within your specialty, back-on-call competence and/or overarching competence within your subspecialty with the ability to assume overall responsibility.
